*UNOFFICIAL* MSCL soundtrackCD... or double (?) CDWow... you guys are impressive. I'm off for a week --- and I sure got a response!
Ok let me say a few things: 1) I'm definitely all for doing this. And I appreciate all the input. I want to do this in a way everyone will be satisfied. So I won't try to shove a certain set of songs down anyone's throat. Keep up the suggestions, and I think we will come to a consensus! I do have one vote on one topic: I love Juliana Hatfield's "Make it Home", and I also think the theme should be the first song (Angelika --- you are right on!). Other than that, I'll go along with whatever you as a group suggest! 2) Expect that once we decide on a set of songs, and once I get copies of everything, it might still take a little time to put it all together. I'd really like to do this right ---- which means taking the time to do it right (whether that's 1 2, or 3 CDs!). I am sort of an amateur musician in my spare time, and I have done some work in audio production, so I would like to make this as professional as possible. But I think there's a good chance we could put this all together by Christmas. I will soon post a list that summarizes everything I've got up to this point. Follow-upOne thing that we might have to realize is that certain music might
only be available off the show. For example, I think "Red" from "Self-Esteem" was never released on CD. But I could record what's on video --- just the excerpt direct form the show --- and include that on this CD (or CDs). I think that would be cool to include some excerpts like that. Another thought is to include other excerpts recorded direct from video ---- like cool quotes and short segments. I would definitely dig that mixed in with the music. What do you think? i dig it daddy-oI think it'd be cool to add qoutes and things from the show. And on songs like "Red" and Rayanne's "Seasame St", we'll definitely have to record straight off the video. We don't really have an option, if we chose to make it complete, because video is the only source. There's 31 songs total, and if we did double cd we could split it 16-15. That would most likely leave room for small audio bits like qoutes.
Should we make a mailing list to discuss this? Re: i dig it daddy-oWell, eventually, I will want to get everyone's postal address who wants a CD.
Also, since these audio recordable CDs cost a little bit, I'll probably ask for at least something in the range of $5 - $8 from everyone. The only other thing I would ask is a little patience, because I may want to take a little time perfecting this! I have a number of serious audio editing tools that I can use to make this a very "pro-sounding" compilation, but it will take some time to do it right (at least through Christmas). The benefit will be a really cool compilation ---- including cool one-liners and memorable parts from the show dubbed in. The other thing that will help make this really good is to get the highest quality versions of each of the recordings. That means that if one person has it on MP3, and another has it on CD, the CD will be best. I'm just saying that it will be worth taking the time to compile the really best set of recordings we can ----- then this set willl really be memorable! Oldguy Rocks!Hey Oldguy, this CD or CD's are going to be the best X-mas present I ever bought myself! I can't
wait!
Re: note to me: DUH!is that really the complete list? pardon my ignorance if it is...it just didn't seem like there were enough songs for that to be all of them (the show used them all the time)- but if it is then, hey, that makes our job a little easier! =)
Re: Oldguy Rocks!Clips from the show would ROCK! Would they be dubbed over pieces of the songs, or separate tracks...I would vote for separate, but that's just me.
and soma, I do think it would be a good idea to do some sort of mailing list type thing once we start voting on songs etc, just because it would be more direct by email....once again, just my opinion =) Tracey Re: ok here it isI've noted two songs not on this list that folks have mentioned:
Cruel Swing - Jawbox** Blue Moon - Elvis Are these songs really on episodes? Sorry --- I just want to make sure. Re: dubbing of cool lines from the showI definitely would want these separate from the songs...
except for possibly using them as lead-ins to songs. Re: dubbing of cool lines from the showYeah, I think quotes would work best seperate from the songs. We could do it kinda like the Pulp Fiction soundtrack, where some quotes stand alone and others serve as intros to specific songs...
Re: ok here it isBlue Moon is repeatedly in the Halloween episode. Not sure about the other...
Re: ok here it isI can contribute "Jonny Angel" by Shelly Fabres, and any songs from the soundtrack that are needed. Just tell me how to get them where they need to go.
On a side note, am i the only one who's bummed about the change of the Sesame Street theme song? Re: ok here it isThey changed the Sesame Street song?
Re: ok here it isYeah. They changed the beat, mainly. It's now like this hip-hop type thing. sigh...
Re: ok here it isI totally agree with you about the change of the SS theme song-- Ioved the old version soooo much better. but then, that may be partially because it's what I grew up with. Still, it was much cooler. The mp3 I have of the theme is the old one.
