Patty: If Rayanne's not seeing you, and we're not seeing you, who is seeing you? Graham: And how much of you? Angela: Dad! Graham: Oh, I'm sorry! I asked a question about your life, didn't I? Woah, what came over me? http://www.last.fm/user/TomSpeed/
everyone has great lists, havent seen one album i hate. fnordboy, you got some great taste. Pink Floyd - Atom Heart Mother Meddle Nirvana - In Utero Hum - Downward is Heavenward You'd Prefer an Astronaut Velvet Underground - White Light/White Heat and Nico Lou Reed - Berlin Sonic Youth - Daydream Nation Dirty Godspeed You! Black Emporer-Lift Your Skinny Fists... F# A# inf. The Who - Whos Next Tommy The Clash - "" London Calling Mogwai - Young Team The Abductees - Hightened Milk Sensitivity The Flaming Lips - The Soft Bullitin Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots this could go on for days... "...and I said ' oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, what a feeling'"
It's a curse I have Totally would have to add these as well. It is a tough call between Downward is Heavenward and You'd Prefer... they are both such brilliant albums, as well as the earlier Electra 2000 (but that is mainly just for the song Pinch & Roll, Never cared for the first album Fillet Show though. I need to add a few more cds: Chainsaw Kittens - Violent Religion Sonic Youth - Confusion is Sex Cranes - Wings of Joy Neds Atomic Dustbin - God Fodder Daisy Chainsaw - Eleventeen Miranda Sex Garden - Suspiria Download - Charlie's Family Pigface - Notes From the Underground Sid, since you are clearly a Hum fan have you heard the Centaur cd yet? It is the lead singer's (Matt Talbot??) new band. Pretty good cd, not "Hum" but close enough
in place of Pigface, id have to go with Ministry. anyway, i have not yet heard Centaur, they came to Cleveland but we missed it. how could such a good band, that was clearly moving forward with every album call it quits? one of the best concerts ive seen was Hum on the downward tour. Electra just rocks, almost metal yaknow. Fillet Show indeed sucks, but a funny title none the less glad to see a Hum fan on the boards, dosnt happen too often. "...and I said ' oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, what a feeling'"
Ok, Ministry just sucks for the most part, sorry to say. They definitely have their moments, but they are few and far between. Land of Rape and Honey is a great album though. There truly aren't/weren't enough Hum fans in this world. Sadly, I never did go see Hum play. Though I did see the guitarist from when he wa in Poster Children on the Tool of the Man album.
BLASPHEME! I personally prefer the glitchier side of things, especially in my industrial music. I am a big fan of Nurse With Wound, Premature Ejaculation, and the earlier Skinny Puppy stuff. And on the IDM side of electronica things like Kid606, Cex, Blechdom, etc. Give me an hour of static and random glitchy blips and bloops and I am one happy camper So, desert island albums. Tough decision, I must say. There are so many great albums out there. I tried to make top 10 list, but there were always some more great albums there. So, I said to myself: "OK, make a top 15 list". But again it didn't work, so I said: "OK, top 20, and that's it!". It was hard, but here it goes. My top 20 desert island albums list at this moment (it will surely change in future):
miles davis - bitches brew (1969) miles davis - kind of blue (1959) john coltrane - giant steps (1960) jaco pastorius - jaco pastorius (1974) the mahavishnu orchestra - the inner mounting flame (1971) the dave brubeck quartet - time out (1959) pink floyd - wish you were here (1975) king crimson - discipline (1981) ramones - anthology (1999) belle & sebastian - the boy with an arab strap (1998) joy division - permanent (1995) new order - substance (1987) tanita tikaram - ancient heart (1988) buena vista social club - buena vista social club (1996) weather report - 8:30 (1979) john scofield - a go go (1998) roger waters - amused to death (1992) massive attack - blue lines (1991) chick corea - return to forever (1972) george benson - weekend in L.A. (1977) If I had to choose only one desert island record, it'll be a tough decision between Bitches Brew and Kind of Blue. "I'd really rather not talk about my music. If the music doesn't speak for itself, no words can help it."
John Coltrane (1926-1967)
I know, I know, no one has posted on this thread in months, and nobody cares any more. But I was digging through old threads and just had to comment. I love making lists.
I'd like to go on the record and say that I think that it is lame when people go outside the lines on lists--meaning that if it is a top ten list you should only pick ten things. That said, I am now going to brand myself a hypocrite and list my ten favorite CDs even though this thread only called for five. And one of my ten is a triple disc (although it is just one really long album). Really, five is just too few. In no particular order: Neutral Milk Hotel-In the Aeroplane Over the Sea Neutral Milk Hotel-On Avery Island Palace Music-Viva Last Blues Bonnie 'Prince' Billy-I See a Darkness The Magnetic Fields-69 Love Songs Sigur Ros-Agaetis Byrjun Dirty Three-Whatever You Love, You Are Frank Zappa-Apostrophe Luna-Penthouse Belle & Sebastian-If You're Feeling Sinister I might amend this list later. The first seven won't go anywhere, though. Who is onlineUsers browsing this forum: No registered users and 0 guests |
