Well, if I knew that Amazon would have the bonus disc, I would switch, but for now I guess I'm gonna keep my year-long preorder... :?

There must be a way to take our minds off of it.

Let's try... oh... thinking of something else! But still related! Like... <ponders> Ah!

<reminisce>Remember the good old days, with all the AU overcharges, and pre-order confusion? Back when there was no Amazon pre-order at all. Those were the days!</reminisce>

Hysterical Blindness

Post by Fedup » Oct 4th 2002, 1:12 pm

I find it infinitely amusing that the early adopters who helped get this product off the ground, and arguably without whose support this DVD may not ever have gotten made, are getting shafted. I'm glad that signing the petition and pre-ording the set helped make it a reality, but I can't help but feel burned by the whole thing. Would I do it again, to make sure the DVDs got made? Probably. Doesn't make this whole mess a lot less painful, especially when it needn't have been. And there is no damage control. And I will *never* order anything from AU again. And I will encourage others not to do so either.

You know, unless Amazon.com starts shipping before AU, I'm willing to pay the (ugh) 60 or so dollars for the lunchbox and the bonus disc, and to know I'm patronizing the company without whom I believe this wouldn't have happened. I'm right on the edge here, but that's what I'm thinking at the moment. Though, I do have a donut in my hand, so I'm understandably optimisting right now.

And if the supposedly absurd italicized portion of my post happens to be the case, is it as simple as it seems to just cancel my AU order and buy from Amazon? Not that canceling my AU order would really be all that simple. (Now I've got "Monster Mash" stuck in my head, and I'm almost done with my donut. No more optimism.)
so says Sparx.

Man, this is just cruel. Sigh. I *know* the lunchbox and bonus DVD aren't worth $30-whatever to me, and I also know that I can support a particular pet cause of mine by ordering from Amazon through a gateway. I don't really want to cancel, but I'm pretty pissed right now, I have to say.

Thanks for making me laugh just when I was on the verge of driving to Sacramento to deliver my tirade personally.

A little too ironic?

Sorry to inflict that upon you, but look on the bright side - didn't you forget about You Know What for about half a second while you were hearing that song in your head?

There's a price for everything - I take your mind off the recent troubles, you gotta hear the song. Like yin/yang baby.

Got to get you out of my mind, but I can't escape from the feeling...

Same here... until AU announces the Bonus Disc can be purchased separately, directly from them. Sorry, my pessimism is getting the better of me, especially with the diehard fans getting screwed like this. :x

Wow for a minute there, I thought you were quoting that Solomon Burke song:

Got to get you off of my mind, I know it's just a matter of time...

Don't you know that early adopters always get shafted?

Raise your hand if you bought a DVD player in 1997/98 and paid more than $300-400 for it. Raise your hand if you bought any recordable DVD player prior to 2002, and paid over $1000 for it.

Okay, I'm done here.
