What are Lifer's watching these days?

MSCL may be gone from the tv screen, but there are lots of good (and bad) new productions airing each week. Talk with other MSCL fans about your favorite shows or the shows you hate. Of course you can also discuss TV show DVD releases here.

Unfortunately, it's an illegal bootleg site. AFAIK, only some of the Daria specials/movies are officially available on DVD. That site also offers the complete "The Wonder Years" on DVD -- another show I would buy on DVD in a heartbeat, but it's only available as bootleg. But as with "Daria", both shows featured a lot of popular music, so the licensing costs are pretty high.

And while I'm in this topic: My favorite new shows this tv season:

- Friday Night Lights (which deserves my "spirit of MSCL"-award this season -- highly, highly recommended!)
- Brothers&Sisters (it's no "thirtysomething", but close)
- Heroes (but I fear it will run out of steam in season 2)
- Studio 60 (not the best Sorkin show, but still excellent dialogues)
- 30 Rock (each episode gets better and funnier)

... and I'm looking forward to "The Black Donnellys" in midseason (and of course, "Drive").

I'm really liking "Better off Ted". It's has an off beat humor, kinda like Scrubs.

I just finished watching Breaking Bad -- kind of a Weeds plotline but with crystal meth, drama rather than comedy, a smidge more realistic, and 'Hal' from Malcolm in the Middle -- who is amazing.

I'm really loving The Riches -- I'm half way through season two right now, and kicking myself for putting off giving this series a try for so long. It has a bit of the grittiness of Deadwood <3, a touch of the dark humor and family drama from Six Feet Under, and the seedy underworld of Weeds, but with characters who are likable and more sympathetic. I'm really enjoying it.

I liked the first season of The Riches but for some reason didn't watch the second season!

I loved the premiere of glee, it's light and fluffy but still promising. I guess i'm not watching much these days. I've been looking for a new series but haven't been able to commit myself to anything yet. Have barely heard of The Riches but might just check it out on Jody's endorsement.

I've been obsessed with Glee since the premiere! I can't wait for the regular season to start in the fall. I hope they reconsider the cuts they made to the pilot that aired in May too. The scene of Will's award winning show choir moment was priceless!

Let's see...Ugly Betty, Weeds, Lost, No Reservations, a host of bad reality shows that I will not admit too publicly! And then re-runs of Golden Girls and Living Single!

I've heard Breaking Bad was good but haven't seen it...
There's so many different ways to be connected to people.
There are the people you feel this unspoken connection to,
even though there's not even a word for it.
There's the people who you've known forever, who know you in
this way that other people can't, because they've seen you
change...

they've let you change.

Alright, I have to admit I loved the new Battlestar Galactica series. It was impressively well done and had brilliant music, amazing characters, and some terrific performances. Edward James Olmos and James Callis particularly stood out to me.

Time will tell if the new Caprica spin-off will be as good.

Oh and Tish, I LOVE Frasier- they don't make shows like that anymore!

Brothers & Sisters - It's got all the things you loved about watching the Chases interact. I highly recommend this one to MSCL fans!

Big Love - Great characters, with complex motives. One of the reasons why I loved MSCL was its complex characters - althought Big Love is much more dramatic, the characters are definitely Winnie Holzman quality.

The L Word - Recently canceled, but there were 6 seasons, all worth watching (although season 6 was a serious downgrade from the first 5). GREAT characters, and each of them has something that reminds me of a MSCL character. And Devon Gummersall (Brian Krakow) makes an appearance for 4 episodes of season 1.

Life -Just canceled, but we got two great seasons worth! So witty! Great quirky friendships.

And I'm embarrased to admit it, but I really like "The Secret Life of The American Teenager." Don't ask.
