sab goes Switzerland

Post by Sascha » Oct 4th 2004, 6:54 am

I'll be speaking at a conference for Information Science in Chur, Switzerland, this week, so I'll be away at least until Saturday. They promised that we'll have internet access there, but I don't know whether I'll have the time to check the forum. Hopefully the weather is good - I hope I can take a few nice pictures of the Alps...

Don't forget to open a bank account.

Hey, they _do_ have in fact internet here in Switzerland... ;-) The weather is amazing (28 degrees Celsius) and the view towards the Alps is _very_ cool. I'll post some pictures when I come back :)

I'm back home. Managed to drive back the 500 kilometers in under 5 hours, even though it rained like crazy on the way. And it's really cold here compared to Switzerland. I never thought temperatures could be (a lot) higher in the Alps than in south-west Germany at this time of year. But thanks to an interesting meterological phenomen called "foehn" in the Alps, nothing is impossible.

Anyway, pictures are now online in our gallery. I didn't have much time to make photos because the conference always ran long and it was difficult to take pictures when the sun went down. Some of the pictures (from the "Weisshorn" - where I had a bit more time because I left the conference early) are just 24 hours old - digital photography is really a cool thing :)

Patty: If Rayanne's not seeing you, and we're not seeing you, who is seeing you?
Graham: And how much of you?
Angela: Dad!
Graham: Oh, I'm sorry! I asked a question about your life, didn't I? Woah, what came over me?

Wow... switzerland is so beautiful. It might have to go on the destination list sooner rather than later. Thanks for posting those pics :)
