So, what are you doing for MSCL's 10th Anniversary?

Post by whitespy12 » Aug 24th 2004, 10:40 pm

Well, the day is upon on... actually it's tomorrow.. and i was wondering if anyone was gonna do anything to celebrate this occasion. Be it something simple, like watch some episodes on VHS/DVD, or maybe something a bit more.. extravagant.

I'm probably just gonna watch a few episodes and come here to see whats going on. Whenever it's a big anniversary for something I like, I always expect something big to happen. I remember on the 20th anniversary of A Nightmare on Elm Street a few months ago, I was hoping New Line would announce some kind of Special Edition DVD set, since the existing one is a pretty barebones effort. Well that didn't happen... but even though these wishes of mine never come true, I am still hoping in the back of my head that Buena Vista will announce a Special Edition MSCL DVD Set. Of course the chances of such a thing are slim, but I still believe that a Special Edition MSCL DVD Set is very possible in the future. FOX released the Alien movies (with little extras) in a DVD boxset a few years ago, and just last year the released the Alien Quintology with loads of extra features. So I'm optimistic. Anyway, enough about my unrelated love for Aliens, A Nightmare on Elm Street, and My So-Called Life. Is anyone here doing anything to celebrate MSCL's 10th?

Huh, I've always considered the DVDs we have the Special Edition DVD set. No special plans at my end, maybe joining a mscl.com 12 steps program  If anything, maybe I'll send some mscl postcards to the friends I used to watch it with in high school, but more to say hi than to celebrate the 10 years. It's too bad we haven't gotten a convention together yet though.

I'm probably going to watch most of the episodes---nothing special since I usually watch atleast one episode a day! I just started watching My So-Called Life in January when it was aired on The-N and I've been addicted ever since! I was only like, 4 when it was originally aired so I'm a newbie!

I will try and watch at least one episode to celebrate. Time is limited today so that will be about it. I wish I could close the curtains, shut off the lights, unplug the phone and load up on junk foor/soda and have an all day marathon like MTV used to do. But due to several factors that just can't happen today  .

That sucks not to have the DvD's!! You better start looking for the box set on ebay or Amazon, because they just went out of print and are really hard to find.. They might not be avalible at Christmas!

I sent out 9 post cards, some to high school friends who I watched it with when it was first on, some to college friends, who remembered the show and watched it with me after late nights out, and some to my friends who had to listen to me complain about the company whose name I no longer mention.

I had decided this morning that at exactly 8pm, I would watch the Pilot episode on VHS (I don't have the DVD... I'm hoping Amazon will send it to me soon, since I ordered it over a month ago...). Well, whatayaknow, at 3pm, I get called into work (I work part time at a Pizza Hut). I just got home about 15 minutes ago (around 9:20pm). Oh well. I'll probably watch the VHS (The one with the Pilot and So-Called Angels) later, and if I really feel like it, I'll stay up and watch MSCL on The-N at 4am... I hear they're playing "The Zit".

I've also been toying around with ideas for a MSCL fanfiction, and even trying to come up with an idea for a MSCL computer game. But so far, no luck.

Also, like Megs, I'm very interested in how you met your husband on the MSCl list, muruch.

I'm at my parents' house so I have no way of watching any MSCL. :( I guess I will just have to be satisfied with reading the forum! but when I get back home, I'll be finishing the marathon I started before I left.
