I've been following this for a while; here's the latest news:

First Manned Private Spaceflight

An interesting quote from the pilot:
As I got to the top I released a bag of M&Ms in the cockpit. It was amazing.
I for one welcome our new multi-colored, sugar-coated, chocolate-centered overlords. They melt in your mouth, not in a spacecraft floating 100 km above the Earth.

Update: SpaceShipOne claimed the $10,000,000 Ansari X-Prize and broke a long-standing aviation record Monday.
