Buffy the Vampire Slayer

MSCL may be gone from the tv screen, but there are lots of good (and bad) new productions airing each week. Talk with other MSCL fans about your favorite shows or the shows you hate. Of course you can also discuss TV show DVD releases here.

For all of you who are also fans of James Leary (and who here doesn't love the actor who brought Clem to life?), the short film Stunt C*cks, starring James L and Kirk Pynchon, is available for sale at http://www.stuntcocks-themovie.com/

This is the 15 min, or so, film that was screened at MR in June and had several hundred people laughing for its duration. It's available on VHS and DVD, and I've been assured that it can be viewed through the PAL system.

It's not for the faint-hearted, but is a really funny spoof on the porn industry. (I've just bought a copy for hubby for Christmas, and Mr. Cawks was really helpful with my e-mail inquiries.)
FYI - the cost is $15 plus postage and also features Lou Diamond Phillips and Ron Jeremy.
You can now view it for free at atomfilms.com. The official site is also selling copies of the movie autographed by Ron Jeremy.

Woo hoo! News from tvshowsondvd:
Back in December, when the 5th season set of Buffy the Vampire Slayer was released, Fox included an insert that said when the Season 6 set could be expected: "Available May 2004", the insert said.

We immediately posted this news item clarifying that according to sources at Fox, this insert contained old information, and that the date had been delayed until July 6th.

Today Fox reversed themselves, and made their insert true. In a statement released to retailers and press, Fox Home Entertainment announced that Buffy the Vampire Slayer - Season 6 would now have a street date of May 25, 2004.

We know this will suite many American Buffy fans very well. Not only is it sooner, it's just before the long Memorial Day holiday, so anyone so inclined can go all through it in a 3-Day weekend!

Price and other specs have not changed, just the date. To remind yourself about further details of this release, click here. Stay tuned, and we'll be back with the cover art as soon as Fox unveils it.

Awesome news! Does this mean we may see S7 by the end of the year? That would be great if we could. I have been holding off on finishing the last few eps of S5 but now I can go through it. :D

The R2 & R4 releases of S7 are both scheduled for April, so I'm hoping that we will be able to get it here by next Christmas!

I haven't finished watching S5 on DVD yet either - I stopped at the midway point because it was hard for me to watch Joyce in and out of the hospital while my dad was sick. Now that he's done with his radiation and chemo, I think I am okay to start watching again so that I will be done by the time Angel S3 comes out on February 10th (I really can't wait to watch that!). Then I will hit Firefly all the way through. Yup, I have it all planned out.

Ugh, I really need to get through S2 of Angel. I didn't realize it was coming so soon.

Yeah I was figuring December for S7.

Yup, only a week and a half! I'm really excited about watching S3 again, plus this set has three commentaries (one by Joss Whedon), deleted scenes with commentaries, outtakes, and screen tests for Amy Acker/Vincent Kartheiser. I think this is about the time that they figured out people really wanted special features on the DVDs (Joss admitted that early on, they didn't realize they really needed to do stuff like that).

smgfan.com has a picture of the Buffy cast and crew that you can view here. If you post this link elsewhere, please give credit to their site. Info from smgfan:
It is our pleasure to be of service to the SMG and Buffy online communities. We welcome everyone to the information we have on the site and message board. Sometimes, with perseverance and luck, we are able to obtain information that isn’t public knowledge yet and we’re happy to share that info with you. All we ask is that credit be given especially when using information like that from our site. We try very hard to give proper credit to the sources of our news and images. It is our hope that you’d afford us the same courtesy. Thank you!

We also have a rare picture of the cast and crew of Buffy The Vampire Slayer taken in April 2003. Thanks to JL for the scan. Click here. This image is a pop up so use your keyboard's arrow keys to scroll. If you wish to link to it, please use the following to link to this page: http://www.smgfan.com/news.htm#jan30.

Obviously, no amount of copy protection and tagging would stop someone who is determined to copy the image, remove the tags then claim it as theirs. The same thing applies to news bits and other info that some people take and post elsewhere without crediting the original source. We hope people know that doing something like this is a sure way to discourage others from sharing rare and important images and info ever again. We just hope that this community has enough respect for others that we would not contribute to this kind of abuse and unacceptable behavior. Many from this fandom have been kind enough to share things but if the blatant theft of images and info continues, the sharing will stop.

Pictures from wireimage of Amber Benson at the premiere of her new film Latter Days are here. The film also stars Wesley Ramsey (Luis, Guiding Light), Jacqueline Bisset (no description necessary!), Erik Palladino (ER), Mary Kay Place (who will always be Sharon's mom from My So-Called Life), Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Third Rock from the Sun, 10 Things I Hate About You), Dave Power (Band of Brothers), and two actors I am not familiar with, Rob McElhenney and Steve Sandvoss.

Plot synopsis from movieweb:
Christian is the typical LA gay boy: hot tanned body, gorgeous looks, and a taste for the one-night stand. By day, he waits tables at the quaint Lila’s where his sexual conquests are frequently discussed with his co-workers. One day, new tenants move into Christian’s apartment complex—four young Mormon missionaries, including the sweet and innocent Elder Aaron. As sexual tension builds between Christian and Aaron, the Lila’s staff wages a bet that Christian cannot bed his missionary man. The bet is on, but there is a problem—Christian is falling in love with his latter-day saint. To make matters worse, the Mormon condemnation of homosexuality sends our lovelorn heroes into trials of regret, loss, perseverance, and forgiveness.
In more AB news, info from Christopher Golden's website:
The Ghosts of Albion novella Astray, written by Amber Benson and Christopher Golden, is now available online as an audio book read by actress Jasmine Hyde, aka Tamara Swift. When a desperate visitor arrives at Ludlow House, the siblings must embark on a mission to a troubled village and a spooky wood. All installments are available to hear at the Ghosts of Albion site.
Emma Caulfield is reserving seats for 20 fans at the Los Angeles premiere of her new movie Bandwagon on February 10. Just email her at caulfieldemma@yahoo.com (source: emmaforums.com)

Looking forward to it. Thanks CG for giving me a little something to keep going this morning.

BTW Ed Zwick was in the 50th aniversary of Playboy. He appeared in a section about style and it had a little blurb about Last Samurai and his work with MSCL.
