woohoo!

Post by starbug » Dec 2nd 2003, 3:15 pm

Well, I finally worked out that I can borrow the laptop from work, bring it home, connect to BT Internet using a pay-as-you-go account which I have now set up, and POST FROM HOME!

Hurrah!

I realise this might not be noteworthy to the rest of you but me having internet access at home is a first, and I'm pretty happy about it

:Fade-color

This rocks!
I can be online in the middle of the night if I want.

No, you keep that woo hoo going starbug! I remember how exciting it was when I finally got internet access at home. It was such a relief not to try to read all of my personal email in the ten minutes I had between classes.

Exactly. Like how I post here (and other places) while trying to keep a careful watch to my right for a boss approaching from the wings in an open plan office... not to mention the personal email issue

Of course I have already executed the 'move your desk layout around feng shui style' option so that only 2 colleagues have a direct view to my screen. Of course I said it was to create more space and improve the 'general feeling' of my workstation.

I sometimes feel like I'm in a Dilbert cartoon

But here I sit, in my kitchen, happily running up the personal phone bill. A small price to pay, methinks... :D

Haha, I had had to move desks three different times at my last job, and every single time I made sure that my computer screen was not highly visible to other people! But it's totally feng shui, really boss.

Dilbert - so much funnier once I started working in an office. Sometimes we would cut them out and write people's names over the characters and then put the comic in their mailbox anonymously.

Yeah, Dilbert is hilarious, but I never quite got it til I'd worked in an office. Now I like, cry, with laughter.
and I can definitely think of a few to stuff in my boss's letterbox.

Also, this being at home thing means I can actually log in when other people are around instead of having to wait to the next morning to see responses to my posts.

Uh oh, with you having more time to post, there goes my narrow lead for the 9th place total posts. I only have a 12 post margin at this point. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted. :P

Starbug,

Congrats on getting at home access. This is important, because we may have just witnessed the birth of Candygirl II or perhaps Candygirl Reloaded.

:D

Actually since Starbug is in the UK, maybe her home access will allow her to be online at the same time as the Americans. She can stay up all night and keep us company while we're at work!
