MSCL Love

Post by pgh kenny » Jul 7th 2003, 3:28 pm

I just wanted to share the love... and this time not with Amazon.com...

In honor of independence day in the U.S., I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank all my fellow MSCL fans for sharing their time on this message board. Prior to the DVD fun, I'd never been the message board type - but the MSCL message board is different. MSCL fans are such interesting people and I'm glad I've had the chance to share my ideas with so many of you. Four out of five dentists agree - MSCL fans kick ass.

Now, if we could all just hurry up and agree on a meeting place, we could have a fun MSCL mini-convention. I once had a MSCL marathon with my housemates (back when I maintained a VHS collection of all the episodes), but that is probably nothing like a marathon with true MSCL fans. For all the time we've wasted trying to get our lunchboxes, we could have planned and attended 20 MSCL reunions :)

So anyways, anyone else wish to share the love?

I'll share next! I too love this forum - it holds a very special place in my heart because I can obsess about MSCL and no one thinks that I am a total freak!

I know that there was talk of a big forum party to toast Jason when the DVDs were finally released, as well as a 10 year anniversary party in honor of MSCL - how does Hawaii sound?

I would consider attending a live event. I'm not sure about Hawaii though. That would probably be outside of my budget.

Especially since some people have paid AU the amount of a ticket to Hawaii and have not, as of yet, seen any return on that...

Seriously though, you'd have to do a poll or something to figure out where the majority of fans are based.

Obviously the most important ones are based in the North East United States ;) :P

Didn't Nostradamus suggest a world map showing the locations of registered members? Sab was going to look into it, I think...

I'd obviously want to attend such an event but the price of a transatlantic ticket might be a little beyond my range. That said, I visit the US reasonably regularly....

Living within 40 miles of said doorstep... I'M IN!

However, I believe that we should rent a beach house at the shore - maybe MTV will sponsor it as a reality show - MSCL Beach House Weekend.

Yup, I think Sascha has it on his "to do" list, but with work, studies, and day-to-day site maintenance, it may take a while. If I ever get really bored, I might scroll through the 444 members who list a location, stick pins in a paper map, photograph it with a digicam, and upload the pic here: the low-tech solution.

I can't wait to see where you stick the pin for "no matter where you go, there you are."

As a quick example, of the top 40 posting members:

26 listed real-world locations

3 listed dual locations

20 live in the US

2 are in the UK

2 are in Canada

1 is in Germany

1 is in Sweden

Of the US residents, the most populous states:

3 are in New Jersey

2 are in Missouri

2 are in Pennsylvania

2 are in California

Another thing to consider is that not all of these people visit the site on a regular basis.

Well, I was going to say something like "Where fools rush in and brave men fear to tread", but that sounds too much like a description of Jersey.

I couldn't post yesterday for some reason. :x But, I' back. :P

I love this site, too. No one else understands my obsession for this show and forum. I was so happy to be asked to be a moderator, you would've thought I won the lottery or something.

I think it would be awesome to have a conference, but the logistics of planning one would be mind-boggling. I don't have the cash to fly anywhere, but I would be willing to drive anywhere in the Northeast. Although my husband did say something about wanting to fly out to Chicago for a LAN party, so maybe I can convince him to fly somewhere for this.

How about Vegas?

I’m sorry I haven’t jumped in sooner, works been busy. I guess life has been busy for that matter. I’d never been a forum poster until I found this site, now I check it a few times a day at work. I love the fact that people are genuine here and that no one is here to promote their egos. I feel like we are kind on abstract family. I only wish I would have found the site sooner, except I’m glad I didn’t have to deal with AU, but I am grateful to all of you who were apart of the DVD effort. Thank you. I think it’s neat that even though MSCL brought us together, it’s not all that we talk about or why we remain here. That and it’s nice to know that my obsession is not unique and that I’m not the only one who the show affected in this way.

I’m sure no matter where a conference would take place it would be a long way from Montana and require a plane ticket, so the location would be distance and expensive regardless. But it does sound like fun.

You guys kick arse!

Anyways, aren't there always cheap hotel and flight accomdations to Vegas on the theory that you'll spend all your money at the casino? I don't gamble (well okay I did succomb to peer pressure and buy powerball tickets) but I'll go to Vegas if it's cheap to get there.

Yes. And I need an excuse to get out there.

Spouses are invited, too, no?
