Bargain Hunt

MSCL may be gone from the tv screen, but there are lots of good (and bad) new productions airing each week. Talk with other MSCL fans about your favorite shows or the shows you hate. Of course you can also discuss TV show DVD releases here.

Bargain Hunt

Post by JPP13 » Jun 12th 2003, 8:39 pm

I doubt anyone else watches this, but I'm completely addicted. Even ordered a book about the host from England. :) Its on BBCAmerica, as well as some Public TV.

It combines Antiques Roadshow with a gameshow format. I love it.

EUUUUUURRRRGHHHHHHHH

God I hate that show. Mr. David Dickinson perma-tan craggy-faced irritating chirpiness? You have to be kidding.

Antiques Roadshow (UK Version) has some class. Sunday evening viewing when you've got nothing else to do...

Just so you know, in the UK, Bargain Hunt is like the cr*p daytime version of Antiques Roadshow. I'm constantly surprised at the BBC's ability to take a good idea and then turn it in to total rubbish.

But I'm glad you like it. I'm glad it brings enrichment into your life...

Well, I've never been one to worry about what's popular or not, but it sure looks like Bargain Hunt is a big favorite in the UK. See

Good lord. David is obviously quite a god. Or at least he thinks he is...

I hate the programme, but I'm just one person with my one opinion.

Please let us know what you think of your book... :)

I like Bargain Hunt, too. The competition component of the show is interesting. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't win if I played though.

Patty: If Rayanne's not seeing you, and we're not seeing you, who is seeing you?
Graham: And how much of you?
Angela: Dad!
Graham: Oh, I'm sorry! I asked a question about your life, didn't I? Woah, what came over me?

I try to guess the values on Antiques Roadshow, which I love. I usually get it wrong though. I need to get into my head the idea that there's an inverse correlation between how attractive an object is and how much it's worth.

I mean, how many times have you looked at something and thought 'oh my god, nobody would pay for that. It's a china teapot with some hideous chintzy floral design. Got to be worth about £1.' Only to find it's worth a fortune??

THe funniest one i've seen was where this guy came on with what he thought was an original Turner. He was fairly insistent as he'd had it valued before and they had to tell him it was a fake. A good one, but a fake. hehe.

I love it when people find they've got something worth some astonishing amount, and they really weren't expecting it.

I just can't bear David Dickinson.
