FCC

Hey all,

Last Monday the FCC led by chairman Michael Powell (Son of Sec. of State Colin Powell) passed a rule on a 3-2 party line vote expanding media ownership past the former rule of 35%. So now Clear Channel, Fox and others can get larger if they so choose.

What do you think?

There is bi-partisan support for this rule and bi-partisan opposition. The Senate is expected to take a bill co-sponorsed by Senator Lott to overturn the FCC rule. The House is not expected to support this legisilation.

NPR reported yesterday that the FCC held only ONE public input hearing before making their decision. However, the met with media industry executives and lobbyists 70 times.

Back with more later.

Best,

Lance Man
