Loss of Liberty

Post by lance » May 16th 2003, 5:06 pm

Hey all,

Check out the following link. The ACLU has a 28 page document listing some of the attacks on civil liberties in the United States since 9/11.

See here for the pdf file:

Scary stuff.

Best,

9/11 happened while I was at my first semester at college. I did a paper on the loss of rights for people of Middle Eastern descent. I got pretty sickened when I did the research.

It just keeps getting sadder and sadder. :?

It is getting to the point of ridiculousness now, yet he will still be re-elected come 2004. I wish more americans would learn to think and stop following blindly. Friggin lemmings.

I think the feeling that lies underneath the gloom is that the election is his to lose at this point.

A wonderful collumn by law professor Paul Campos explores the reasoning behind many of the recent intrusions on civil liberties:

I didn't attend the funeral, but I sent a nice letter saying I approved of it.

In the two years since law enforcement agencies gained fresh powers to help them track down and punish terrorists, police and prosecutors have increasingly turned the force of the new laws not on al-Qaida cells but on people charged with common crimes.
Can we PLEASE get a new administration now??? Between this and Fox and CNN admitting they purposefully towed the administration line because of intimidation (which resulted in Bush getting away with MURDER) my hopes for things hit an all time low.

At least its being reported now . . . I guess.

Dang!

That is scary stuff, although not entirely suprising.

Thanks again andrewgd.
