Homicide: Life on the Street on DVD

MSCL may be gone from the tv screen, but there are lots of good (and bad) new productions airing each week. Talk with other MSCL fans about your favorite shows or the shows you hate. Of course you can also discuss TV show DVD releases here.

Patty: If Rayanne's not seeing you, and we're not seeing you, who is seeing you?
Graham: And how much of you?
Angela: Dad!
Graham: Oh, I'm sorry! I asked a question about your life, didn't I? Woah, what came over me?

Hey, whatever works! Sometimes you have to be as subtle as a ton of bricks

Here's hoping they show up next to your cake.

Sweet! This is my all time favorite detective shows. This stuff really blows any CSI or Law and Order out of the water.

All the episodes had such impact. These you really got a feeling for the atrocity of murder, and the fight for justice...not just the walking through the paces you get from the Law and Order shows.

The later seasons (if I remember correctly) actually got fairly artsy. Really creative, daring and sometimes challenging. I really hope they release all the seasons.

Oh, and the MUSIC!!! It always had incredible music... The only crime show that has come close to it has been 3rd Watch, which is really good in itself (again, better than L&O and CSI).

I spent most of my free time over the last three days watching these discs. There are 13 episodes. It's interesting that NBC only ordered 4 episodes for the second season. Homicide spent most of it's run on the cancellation bubble. The bonus material is great. An episode of AE's American Justice, which deals with real-life homicide detectives is included. The fictional detectives of the series are just like the real detectives. The only problem I have with the discs is that color is really washed out for the season one episodes, just like MSCL's "Pilot." I'm pretty sure that the color looked the same when the series originally aired, so this probably isn't a big deal. Of course, I might have to wait a long time until the next installment. I will be jonesing soon.
