amazon or bestbuy?

Post by humanbtbox » Nov 12th 2002, 1:47 pm

I didn't get into the whole AU thing. But I do want to buy the DVD's. So I looked at amazon.com and bestbuy.com. But see, I've never preordered something before. And I guess maybe I'm sort of intimidated because of everything that you've all been through with AU. So should I take the chance? I know the show is worth it, no doubt. What do you all think?

Within the week, you should be able to walk in to Best Buy and walk right out with the set in your hands. :)

My husband and I preordered Band of Brothers from Best Buy. We had absolutely no problems with getting it. We even received it a day or two ahead of schedule. I would say order it from them.

First of all, preordering from a known trustworthy company is really no different from ordering something that is available from a known trustworthy company - you WILL receive your merchandise. That said, go with who you feel comfortable with. I have ordered stuff from amazon in the past and had no problems at all. I have also bought stuff at best buy (at the actual location, not online) and was satisfied with the merchandise, if not the customer service (you would think that when there are literally a hundred employees walking around the floor, ONE might be able to stop and help a customer find something). In BB's defense, I will say that if you know what you want and you can find it on your own, no problems there.

Even though you CAN still preorder, at this point I would go with Howard's recommendation - wait until next week and then just go to a store and buy it. No nailbiting while you wait for the UPS man. :D

Deepdiscountdvd.com $45. Give it a try. And while you may have never heard of it before hop on over to dvdtalk.com and read their forum. While they screw up an order every so often they're a good company. Unlike AU.

Thanks you guys. I'm armed with more info. I think I'll just go buy it next week at Best Buy. But I'm definitely going to check out deepdiscountdvd.com. Thanks for that!
