Scott Winant is co-producing yet another Showtime series (he also produced the first episodes of "Dead Like Me"). And as in "Dead Like Me", he also directed the pilot episode.
The show is about a psychiatrist (Hank Azaria) who falls into a deep mid-life crisis after one of his patients dies. And there are problems at home -- his mother (Blythe Danner) still lives with him and his wife (Paget Brewster) and they're getting on each other nerves.
The pilot episode features the trademark of director Scott Winant: the amazing scene transistions. The show itself is a roller-coaster ride. It's a comedy and it's a dark depressing drama at the same time. It's Ally McBeal meets Nip/Tuck meets Six Feet Under. Not a mindblowing show, but worth watching.
Jewel Staite ("Firefly") also guest-stars.
