Quotations

Post by starbug » Jan 17th 2003, 6:40 am

Can anyone help?

I would like to know how to quote multiple times in the same post, from different people in the same thread. So, like:

Candygirl wrote:

my reply

Fnordboy wrote:

my reply

Thanks - this will be really useful for me in the episode discussion and I just couldn't figure out how to do it.

I did the above quote the easy way: by clicking on the "reply with quote" button on your post. That's probably how you've been doing it, which could give you the impression that you can only quote one person at a time. As you guessed however, it is actually quite simple to include as many inset quote boxes as you like. Read all about it here.

(Sheesh, I wish I'd spotted that when I first joined the board; it could've saved a lot of confusion!)

:)

P.S. I altered the quotes in my quote of your post to more accurately resemble the writing style of the forum members mentioned. My apologies for any artistic liberties I may have taken.

P.P.S. Hey, that was my "PI" post -- number 314! Now that's OCD! :P
I have never killed a man, but I have read many obituaries with great pleasure.

I didn't attend the funeral, but I sent a nice letter saying I approved of it.

hey hey - it seems to be easy. Soon I'll hit submit and we'll see.

Plus, I loved the attributed text... I see the potential here - you could attribute all sorts of things to people that they had not, in fact, said.
But of course everyone's too nice here to do that :)
