My brief encounter with the surreal!

I walked into a local Best Buy today in search of a new disk drive. Sold out.

So i'm strolling through the DVD department and i glimpse something that can't possibly be! Am i delirious?
 Holy Crap! Right in front of me on the top shelf, exactly 3 boxed sets of My So-Called Life!
And a space where it appears 1 more previously rested! Priced at $67.99.

I still can't believe it. :o I felt like finding somebody in charge and demanding to know where they obtained the sets.

Has anyone else seen the set in local retail stores?

If that was not a joke, where have you been? :D I bought mine in BestBuy Nov. 22nd. But, like online, they had been available since the 19th (that was the date, right?)

Hmm.

I haven't kept up on things recently.

How many outlets does Best Buy have?

I certainly wouldn't have thought there were enough of these sets for them all to carry many.

Hmm? There were a few threads on here about Best Buy having the set in their weekly flyer for the week the set was released(Tuesday Nov 19th). The set was on sale that week also for $59.99 at Best Buy.

You only saw 3 sets? You would've been shocked if you went that week they were released when probably every Best Buy had 50 sets on their shelves.

I got a set on the 19th(November) at my local Best Buy(there were tons of sets on the shelf, about 50 or so), and I finally received my set from AU last Monday.

I don't remember the exact number, but I think he has said that BMG has sold either 10,000 or 25,000 sets. I DO know he did say that this was BMG Special Products top selling item ever.

That kinda makes the 3,000 that AU had seem almost petty and insignificant.

Jason said BMG has sold 25K in this thread: http://www.mscl.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1862

 The twinkies!

I'm not surprised they sold well, but i didn't think BMG was manufacturing all that many.

Thanks for the thread reference.

I saw the sets in Circuit City here. The sticker price was $59.99....there were a couple of them the other day, but some are gone now....guess people are buying them as gifts....
