Amazon.ca customers?

Has anyone else checked the ship date recently? I just did tonight and it's November 19th. Last week it was the 12th for some time. Fine, whatever. However, the link to the actual box set is not there anymore! I even did a search and all that comes up is the old dvd that was released a few years back. I'm confused. I hope amazon.ca is still shipping the dvds!

That sounds just like Amazon.ca.

I had preordered a limited edition box set from them before, several weeks before the release date. The ship date came and went, the item disappeared and two weeks later they canceled my order claiming the set was never released. I ended up ordering from Amazon.com, who had them in stock, and cheaper. This isn't a limited edition, so they should be able to get them, but don't be surprised if they try to cancel your order. I complained about it and didn't even get an apology.

The ship date isn't a worry, as that should be correct. The fact it disappeared usually means they have deleted it from the database, and can't get it anymore.

I also pre-ordered from Amazon.ca, on October 19th.
My "estimated ship date" still says November 12, but like you said, the link to the actual product is gone and doesn't show up in a search.
I sent them an e-mail and am hoping to hear back soon.

I just want my DVD'S!!!!!!!!!!!

and of course, I am still waiting on a refund from AU. Or, more likely, the dispute with my CC charge to go through. That's the only way I got my double charge refunded.

I noticed that HMV has the set listed on http://www.hmv.com for $89.99 Canadian, with a release date of November 19th. Does this mean that they'll have them in their stores here on the same date?

I've never ordered anything from HMV online, so I have no idea what their service is like. Of course, if Amazon.ca can no longer get the set, maybe HMV won't have it either...

Same thing here. I pre-ordered my boxset of MSCL on amazon.ca on oct. 20th and they were supposed to ship it yesterday but they didn't. I know the new shipping date if nov 19th so I will wait but I do hope I get it. I got my refund from AU a month ago by disputing the charges and now I want to use that money to buy the new one. I never had any trouble with amazon.ca before, except maybe this time with a Buffy book that arrived late and they gave me a 10$ gift certificate. Last week I ordred the Once and Again boxset and I got it the day after. I wonder what is the problem with MSCL! I want the boxset!

I just checked a number of other Canadian sites that sell DVDs, namely:

http://www.futureshop.ca, http://www.thunderdvd.com, http://www.dvdboxoffice.com, http://www.dvd-plus.com and http://www.chapters.indigo.ca.

None of them has a listing for the MSCL set, so there may be no Canadian rights for this product. If that's true, I expect that the HMV listing will disappear soon.

Jim, I also think HMV will not sale the boxset in Canada. Amazon.ca will probably cancel our orders next week and nobody in Canada will get it unless we pay US$$$$$. I e-mailed amazon.ca and I am waiting for their answer but I don't expect a good one.

That is bad because I really really wanted the boxset. I guess I will save some money and one day I will pay US$$$ to have it. Right now, with Felicity and Once and Again I am OK but I wish MSCL would have been sold somewhere in Canada.

I do remember when I e-mailed Ventura. The person told me that Ventura didn't have the right for Canada and Ventura is the only one who distribute the MSCL boxset! Guess, no boxset in Canada!

Ventura is not the only distributor.

Jason who can we contact to know if the boxset will be available in Canada? I was told a while ago that Ventura was the only distributor but it was like a month or two ago so things might have changed?

I still hope tht amazon or hmv will ship the boxset!

I ordered the DVD box set about a month ago from amazon.ca as at the time it was the cheapest company to buy it from for someone living in the Uk. However after reading your postings, and likewise getting nothing from amazon, it would seem that now is the time to jump ship and change to another distributor such as deepdiscountdvd.com which offers the set at a slightly lower price. However this is the first that I have heard of this compamy and am a bit dubious of going with it, especially after the whole AU saga. So what should I do? hang on for a couple more days and see if amazon will pull through or take a risk and go with deepdiscountdvd.com??

Well I emailed Amazon.ca and here's their response. As you can see they didn't address the fact that there's no longer a listing for the MSCL dvds. So I'm not really reassured by this:

Greetings from Amazon.ca.

Your order has not shipped because "My So Called Life" (5 pack)/TV
Show [IMPORT] has not yet been released.
It is currently scheduled for release on Tuesday, November 19, 2002.
As soon as this item is available to us, we will ship it to you.

When your order is shipped, we'll send you an e-mail message
confirming the date, contents and method of your shipment. As per our
standard policy, we do not charge you for an item until it enters the
shipping process, so you will not be charged for this title until it
is available and we have shipped it to you.

Now I don't know whether to stay with Amazon.ca and hope they deliver, or go with Amazon.com after all (before the pre-order period ends and the price goes up). I'm leaning towards the latter since everyone here seems to think the set won't be available through Canadian outlets. Damn. I've lost enough money already, thanks to AU. So I was relieved that Amazon.ca was offering it and I could save a bit, but now it looks like I'll have to order again from the US and pay extra for duty, not to mention the exchange rate. I love this show, but I'm not rich, and right now I feel like it's just not worth it.

Wasn't there talk awhile back that someone else will probably pick up the rights and release MSCL in the future? Not that I want to wait even longer when I was one of the first people to pre-pre-order this thing. But since I REALLY wish I hadn't ordered with AU now that the set is available elsewhere, I'm also REALLY gonna regret paying a couple hundred more to get it from Amazon if I end up seeing a Buena Vista release in stores near me for $60.

Wish I could see into the future.

hey leerosevere;

Im not a Canadian so I cant tell you what would be your best option, but I wanted to say I totally agree with you about being so frustrated it just doesnt matter any more. After trying for a month and a half to get my cancellation refund back from AU.com I also cancelled my amazon.com order just because I dont want to deal with any thing else my so-called life related for awhile. Even if I got the box set at this point I dont think it would live up to all the trouble it caused me. All the headaches, phone calls, nasty e-mails and frustrations are just not worht the dvd set, sorry. So I am going to wait a while, see what happens and maybe some day purchase the set with no memory of what happened.

That's the same canned response I got whe I inquired about the limited edition boxset Amazon.ca eventually cancelled on me, a week after the release. I wouldn't hold my breath for Amazon.ca, so far they seem to be listing stuff they can't get, at least in my experience.

I agree with the sentiment that it is to the point where I want nothing to do with this series any more. There are more important things in life than dicking around with this crap. However, I'll wait until AFTER AU gives me my money back...

Hi,

just got this response from amazon.ca:

"Thank you for writing to us at Amazon.ca.

I've checked into your order and found that you may have already
received e-mail from us about this item. Unfortunately, when we
contacted our supplier, we learned that "My So Called Life (5 Pack) /
TV Show [IMPORT]" is no longer available.

This unavailable item has been cancelled from your order, and your
credit card has not been charged for it.

I apologize for this inconvenience. Until recently we still hoped to
be able to obtain this item for you.

We make a significant effort to keep abreast of prices and
availabilities, but our reliance on our suppliers for information
about the items they offer means that, occasionally, our database
will not reflect all changes.

Again, we are very sorry for any disappointment this has caused.
Please know that we value your business, and hope to see you again
soon at Amazon.ca."

Guess I'll try HMV.com ......
