I've never seen this 1996 movie, which also features Catherine O'Hara, Christian Ricci, Gabriel Byrne and Stephen Rea. I do know that JL plays Frankie Griffin, a teenager who has a party to get his mind off exams, girls and strange goings-on with his mother.

The Last of the High Kings is slated to air early Wednesday, 1/16 (or late Tuesday, 1/15, depending on how you look at it), from 1:35 to 3:20 a.m. Eastern time on Starz. I'd love to hear if this one is worth checking out or would love to discuss this movie with anyone who watches it this week.

I saw this movie about a year ago. it's an odd little flick. I was hoping that Christina would have a better role than she did. I think it's worth watching if you're a jared leto fan, otherwise, you're not missing too much. it's definitely not his worst.

Thanx for the feedback, emmie. I've always been interested in Jared Leto's work, while the betrothed is a huge Christina Ricci fan so this sounds like it will be a good one for us to watch. I was able to tape this when it ran this week, so I am hoping to see it soon.

While the betrothed was disappointed that there wasn't much screen time for Christian Ricci, I was glad to see Jared Leto in such a meaty role. It was a bit odd hearing him with that Irish accent, but those eyes still said it all. Jared is definitely a great actor, and I liked seeing him play a role so different from Jordan. That has always marked a great actor to me, seeing that person able to play a wide range of roles and pull them all off. And in this case, Jared did a great job.

The movie itself was a bit strange and I don't know if I would watch it again, but I did enjoy it the first time around. Catherine O'Hara plays quite the crazy mother, while Gabriel Byrne plays the eccentric father. GB also had quite a behind-the-scenes hand in this one, which was interesting to me since I've enjoyed much of GB's other work.

Might have been mentioned already, but for all you Jared Leto fans out there he's in this Gabriel Byrne scripted Irish movie. I enjoyed the film, perhaps being Irish contributed to my enjoyment - I can't tell you. Good music too.
Oh and it's called 'Summer Fling' in the good ol' U S of A.

It went straight to video in the US.

I guess that's a phrase that can no longer be used. "Straight to video" should be straight to DVD.

Welcome, Joe, and thanx for the info on the alternate title. I caught this one when it aired on cable a while back. You can read our former comments on this one at http://www.mscl.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=332 .
