Claire Danes in Temple Grandin

Post by Sascha » Aug 15th 2008, 5:22 am

From The Hollywood Reporter:
HBO's long-gestating Temple Grandin project is moving forward, with Claire Danes in negotiations to star and Mick Jackson set to direct the biopic.

Grandin, one of the leading speakers on autism, overcame the limitations imposed by the disorder to become one of the top scientists in humane livestock handling.

[...]

Danes will play Grandin from her high school years to her post-academic period.

If you're in Smithville, Texas, you could have the chance to appear as an extra in HBO's Temple Grandin biopic (starring Claire Danes).

More details about the casting call here.

Finally saw the movie. She was great. I've pretty much lost my taste for Claire over the years, or at least Claire as Claire, and was disappointed by Shopgirl, etc., But WOW, that performance was disarming. I don't remember who the other nominees were, but I'd say the win was well deserved. I felt I was watching the Claire Danes from so long ago, it was a thing of beauty.
Sometimes I write a little MSCL fanfiction: https://www.fanfiction.net/u/1039807/Jody-Barsch
Also, after multiple V. Mars reiterations, and finally a Deadwood movie, still wishing for some continuation of The Riches !

Congratulations to Claire Danes for winning a Golden Globe for her role in Temple Grandin. This is her first Golden Globe award since her win for MSCL those many years ago!

I totally know what you mean, Jody Barsch, I haven't liked many of Claire's recent performances. I have been rewatching MSCL because I haven't seen it in like 2 years *gasp* and also Romeo and Juliet, and I was struck by her performances. I wonder if it has something to do with the innocence of these characters? her latest characters have been more grown up so perhaps not quite as endearing to us.

of course, having said all this.... I still have *not* seen Temple Grandin. must do so very soon though!! bad emmie, bad!

Just saw it and Clair was indeed AMAZING. Definitely worthy of all the praise.
Her performance quality in the movie is on a par with that on MSCL (and we all know how absolutely brilliant that was!) , although one would imagine that this time it demanded much more from her.
The whole movie is very moving and thought provoking, what a delight.
