Claire definitely is keeping busy these days, but that's good to see.

It was fun to hear how she celebrated the holidays with a different twist and also what she is pursuing schoolwise. I got the distinct impression, though, that she likely will never finish school and really wants to focus much more on her career now than she has done in the past few years. What do you think?

I agree that she probably does not feel motivated to finish college now. Will she ever finish? I think she probably will graduate college, when she's forty. It must be hard to balance going to college, acting, and spending time with her boy friend and family. Plus, an actress usually only has a short period of time when she can get the roles that she wants. Unlike actors, who seem to be with us forever (Robert Redford, etc.), actresses have a much shorter acting life. She probably believes that she should act now and study later. I would very much like to see her act into her 30s and 40s...maybe beyond. Also, she probably has a strong desire to act in some leading roles. Those roles will only come and keep coming if she gets out there.

On the question of whether Ms. Danes is too thin...

I'm going to have to conclude that that's just her natural build, and I think I can say why I believe that.

Just from Dave and Conan, I think her arms and legs are, well, normal. It just seems to me that those who are skinny to an unhealthy degree have very bony arms.

But I'm no expert and I'm frankly biased towards the cutie.

I missed Conan last night. His timeslot is simply too late for me. I considered taping it, but I decided to stay up late. Unfortunately, some other show ran longer than usual. Leno was still interviewing someone well after 12:30 PM ET in my TV market. Ugh! I went to bed.

Edit -- Claire's thinness --

She definitely has a lanky body frame. However, it seems more noticeable now. I saw Brokedown Palace, which came out three years ago. She seems to look different now than she did in that movie. I haven't seen Igby Goes Down, so it's probably difficult for me to see more subtle changes in her appearance. God knows that I've put on some weight in the last two or three years. She's probably lost some weight during the same time period. Don't get me wrong, she still looks fantastic!

From what I saw last night, she looks much more normal and less anorexic bone thin pointy elbow skinny (as she does in some of the pictures I have seen of her). Perhaps now that she's older (out of her teen years) her metabolism is slowing down and her body is settling into itself. Does that make sense? I just knew so many girls at my high school (me included) who were naturally thin despite eating four or five meals a day. Once I started college (and still exercised, mind you) my body lost that tiny stick thing teenage girl look and developed a more normal physique. At least in college people weren't literally trying to force feed me with pleas of "but you're too skinny!" I thought the absence of the force feeding was a positive change :D
