According to my husband:
A girly girl is a prissy girl that doesn't want to get dirty. A high maintenance girl. My husband says "kinda like Cher in Clueless". Doesn't like to get her hair or make-up messed up. Always messing with her make-up.
You get the gist. He keeps going on, but I'll leave it at that.

Yeah. According to my husband, that's me. I disagree, though. I grew up a tomboy!

Me too - I was a tree climbing, dirt digging, bug squashing, scabbed knee having tomboy...who happened to play Little House on the Prairie with my sister (which usually involved screwing in the lightbulb on her Raggedy Ann lamp to simulate the oil lamps and pulling grass out of our yard for a pretend harvest).
I prefer to think of it as "having diverse interests."

I was a tomboy too, but I was a jock tomboy. I was all about going outside and playing football, baseball, hockey, and wrestling with the boys. Not that I EVER wished I were a boy. I was always quite content with being a girl. Actually, I never got very girly. Maybe just now (I'm 20) I'm starting to get a little girly - I'm starting to wear skirts on a regular basis! I still never wear makeup, unless I'm in a concert. And I never really do anything with my hair besides wash and brush it. Most of my friends are still males, so maybe that makes me a "guy's girl" or something. I'm definitely low maintenance, with occasional high maintenance moments. GUYS are the ones that are high maintenance! Who else is with me on that!?

Interesting that you brought that point up. A story developed when the US Navy first allowed women to serve aboard aircraft carriers. The story went that after a couple a weeks aboard ship the carrier was rapidly running out of fresh water. Many thought, okay, here a bunch of women spending too much time in the shower.
Wrong.
Turns out that the guys on board were the ones who were taking too long in the shower.
