You may have heard of this recent gem,

The same people (really the same people) who brought the world right wing death squads in El Salvador want to bring these squads to Iraq. For those of you not familiar with these squads from the 80s they were responsible for the deaths of 4 American nuns, 6 Jesuits priests, an Archbishop and thousands of Salvadoran people.

A BBC reporter asked a former leftist Salvadoran guerillas leader what he thought of the idea (Source MSNBC 1/19/05), one Joaquin Villalobos. This is what he had to say:

"If the generals (US) think that with the hatred against the United States that exists in the region, with the divisions in Iraqi society, with Syria, Iran and others around it, starting a dirty war is something that will give them an edge, they are totally lost and desperate."

He went on further,

"Invading Iraq without a post war plan created chaos, subsequent mistakes converted the chaos into organized resistance, and if they keep blundering around blindly, they'll convert the resistance into a real civil war."

Some food for thought.
