Acting (Classes)

Hey guys and girls,

Not sure where I got this idea (or do I...), but I decided that maybe I want to take an acting class. I'm pretty shy, so I've always thought that of all the arts, this is probably the one I could do least well, but now I'm starting to think that I might actually be able to overcome that.

On the other hand, I don't know how to pick a class, or whether it should be a class at all or some other form, if any other form of learning to act exists.

Has anyone here taken an acting class, or is anyone perhaps an actual actor? :) If any case, please share your thoughts. Thanks!

I'm not an actor, but you won't know if something is for you until you try. I took a class in electical circuits in college to confirm that my home was civil engineering (so i wouldn't regret not having tried electrical later in life). I got through the class with a mercy B+ (for effort apparently) but they key is that I have no regrets I didn't take that fork in the road.

I agree - better to give it a try and know so that you don't spend the rest of your life wondering!

Thanks for the replies guys. I guess I got lazy and didn't do it, but I still haven't given up on that idea. I'd be a little scared to actually join a group given that I have no experience, but there are classes at both a local theatre and a local university that I'm considering.
