Glad you're ok and doing better Jody. Sorry about your car, hopefully you'll get something fun to rent from the insurance company. Hope the bruises heal fast.

Best Wishes

Sorry to hear about your crash Jody! I hope everything turns out alright.

I wasnt with my mom, but my mom was getting medicine at the medicine shop. She was reading the paper well her perscriptions were being filled. Some one comes in "is your car a red escort out in the parking lot?" And of course it was. People from the shops next to the one she was at watched a person back up straight into the front of our car and just run. We need a new fender and at first the door wouldnt even open. A couple people took down the license plate of the other car, then the police checked it out and it wasnt right. It was a Philidelphia plate. Finally the Medicine shop found out who filled there perscriptions last. We tracked down the passanger of the car and got the lady who did it. She was really old, and claimed to have not heard the crash, ( how she didnt feel it.. im not sure) but I guess she apoligized and was really nice about everything. There wasnt much damage, it was just another problem to deal with. lol
( Older people shouldnt be able to drive if they cant hear..)

Jody, sorry to hear about your accident. the main thing is that you're OK but I know how depressing it must be to see your car be crunched :( take it easy, get some rest, and chill out. 8)

Okay, so aparently car batteries should be unplugged after they've been in a crash ... my car has been in a body shop lot since Friday but it burst into flames this morning. My friend drives past the place in order to pick me up for work and he said he saw the firemen putting the flames out. I later heard that, as the business wasn't open yet, they had to break down the gates to fight the flames. So, I guess that means if my car wasn't pretty much totalled before, it's definitely dead now. Still playing phone tag with AAA ...

Also, after multiple V. Mars reiterations, and finally a Deadwood movie, still wishing for some continuation of The Riches !

 Jesus.... I don't know what to say.

That is like the worst luck possible. Now, I would think that if you can prove the car was not totalled before the fire you (rather AAA) should be able to sue the body shop for some coin to pick up a new car.

That is pretty crazy though, horrible luck :(

Oh no! that's awful Jody... like Fnord says, you should be able to claim some damages from the garage. But it's bound to be one of those administrative nightmares which makes things like this so horrible.

:bad-words:  :hammer2: :sad2:

I guess you have to wait til you and AAA actually make contact before you'll know more about what's happening :?:

Oh, gosh - that's Murphy's Law at its worst . That car seemed to have seriously bad karma ;-)

I hope you get some compensation from the body shop and your injuries heal soon.

Gak!

You definately are having an incredibly, incredibly bad period. I might have said earlier that "It can't possible get any worse..." but there you are.

Dang Jody, I will keep you in my prayers and hope that better times are very close at hand for you.

Thank you everyone for all the good thoughts. I got the insurance money yesterday, and after more than 13 hours of car shopping with my wonderful father, I bought another S40 today. Well, in the eight months since I bought the last car, the market has really changed -- I bought this one for over $5,000 more than the last one. Yes, it's a 2001 rather than a 2000, but come on. I've looked at a ton of Volvos, and I've liked none better than the one I had (which is funny because it was the very first car we looked at when we started shopping around for cars last time.) Oh well, it's only car, and it's incidental, not integral. Hopefully this one will see me through some years to come -- it's strange to think that this is my third car already.

(Sigh) definitely a tough time for the Lance Man.

You may want to keep small children and friendly wildlife away from the screen.

Last week many unpleasant things happened in LanceLand. My grandfather on my dad's side has gone of remission. His prostate cancer has spread and his kidneys are failing. He is in the hospital and things are very much a day to day affair.

Meanwhile, on my mom's side my uncle has been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, cancer of the tongue as it turns out. The doctors are not certain if they can save his tongue or not and whether he will be on some breathing apparatus for the rest of his life.

In the midst of all of this discord I continue to seek full time employment in the land of the sun. Thus far I have had a couple of interviews for my chosen profession but no job offers. I have yet another interview this Tuesday, I will let you know how it turns out. I continue to lurch along buoyed by my 3 jobs.

Anyway, thus ends this sad tale.

Um, in my room, one seam is a little off and I stare at it constantly. It's, like, destroying me.

Lance,
Sorry to hear that. I hope your family comes through this difficult time. It's kind of hard to be philosophical during such a rough time but positive thinking counts for alot. My thoughts are with you and your family.
