Bwa-ha-ha, we'll corrupt you to the Dark Side yet, Lance!

Have fun in Cali!

2 months to go till my move...

I can't wait. Interesting thing though. The six months that I lived here when I was trying, very hard to make it here: nothing. I couldn't make a single friend-zip-zero.

Now that I am on way out of here, I am meeting a ton of really, really great people.

Granted some of them are on their merry way out of here too. Still ironic and sad at the same time. I will try and keep in touch with my new Vegas friends from my California home.

That same type of thing happened to me my soph. year of HS. My family was moving to another city and I had to go to a new school. A month or two before the move I started making a lot of new friends and having such a great time - just when it started to get good, we moved and I went back to having very little friends and not so much fun. I hope you will make lots of new friends in CA Lance! :D

Three weeks to go...

Man, I am in the thick of it. I am getting darn good at this moving thing. If my chosen profession doesn't pan out...I might consider offering my services to those with vast disposable incomes...hmmmmm

Meanwhile back on Planet Vegas, another temp assignment and yet another job offer...

(Smacks forehead) arggggggggggggggh!

...in Vegas.

Yes, ladies and gentlemen as I attempt to become a gainfully employed Californian the Vegas job offers are starting to come out of the woodwork fast and furious.

(Sigh)
No word yet on the results of my most recent job interview, but I am still in the running for another job it that one doesn't pan out.

Hey Lance,

Seems like a long wait... can you legitimately follow up with a call asking when you can expect to hear?

These things are like the No. 73 bus... you wait ages and then 8 show up at once. :)
For the right job (and I'm talking dream job) would you stay in Vegas, or is your mind made up?

No, I can honestly say that Vegas is not for me. I am calling the HR folks tomorrow and see what I can find out. Meanwhile the other preparations for the move are going pretty well: most of the utilities are set for the new apartment and I have a bunch of boxes to pack with.

Hey,

I will take what I can get. We do seem to have appliances now but no sign of furniture yet.

GAK!

Literally just rolled back into Vegas after a three day 1,100 mile trip moving part of my stuff to my new home.

Friday will be my last trip out, thank God.

No pics yet, I will take some on Friday, just some impressions.

Between Las Vegas, NV and Bakersfield, CA there really isn't much to see. Just winding roads going through mountains and hills. Up and down.

There is though a large group of Windfarms. Huge modern windmills on top of hills.

North of Bakersfiled there are various almond farms. Between Paso Robles and Salinas are gentle winding roads, with groups of cows here and there.

Highway 1, Coastal highway is a large four lane highway roaring along by Salinas. By the time it gets to Half Moon Bay it is a rather sedate, two lane affair.

(Yawn)

So that's it for now. Gonna sleep really well tonight and then its more packing.

Good luck with the rest of your move, Lance! Sounds like it's been going pretty smoothly so far. I sort of have to move next week - I'm going back to Madison for the entire summer. I am keeping my apartment in Kansas City... just have to go back to Madison for a job. I'm going to live at my parents' house for the summer. I don't have to move big stuff like furniture, but it is sort of a hassle to decide on which clothes, pack up my double bass, guitars, keyboard, cds, computer, etc. A lot of little stuff (well, except the bass!). Anyway, that will be my story next week.
