4th of July Plans?
Posted: Jul 2nd 2003, 3:11 pm
Yes it’s the 4th of July again, celebrate your America by blowing up a small part of it!
I’m curious what everyone’s plans are for the weekend, now that it is a true 3 day weekend again and the holiday isn’t stuck in the middle of the week anymore. I’m heading for the lake on Thursday night to ride the Jetskis and hangout in the boat. I’ve reserved a carefully scheduled block time in which to do nothing but lay on the lawn and read a book and watch the boats go by. I’m going to stop on the Reservation and pick up some “special” fireworks. Which reminds me, most of you who live in cities don’t have access to fireworks, legal or otherwise, too bad.
So what are you guys doing? Family, food, fun, explosions?

I plan on drinking to excess and probably watching T3. I might also work on my fan fic. Good times.

Well, my whole family is coming down from PA on Friday to visit us and stay overnight. I invited them, but God help me. I have to clean and get the new house ready for company. At least we have some
furniture to sit on now.
We are probably going to cook out (if my husband buys a new grill, which he has been wanting to do since we moved) and go into DC for the fireworks. I am not looking forward to that, because I have done that for years, and it sucks. The fireworks are the best I have ever seen, but the crowds, the heat, the traffic, and the Metro all suck.
But I love that my family is coming to visit. I am homesick right now.

Sounds like the perfect excuse to buy a new toy, and it just wouldn't be right if you didn't have a BBQ on the 4th. I heard a great country time lemonade ad on the radio this moring about making a big ice cold pitcher to place by the grill for this weekend. I love those commerials, they do a great job of capturing this romantic view of summer, great stuff.

Just wanted to wish all a safe and happy 4th.
I plan to remain firmly enthroned in my happy home this weekend. Santa Cruz is a driving nightmare on holiday weekends. On Memorial Day weekend I left for Mass. The drive in Santa Cruz normally takes me 10 mintues or so to get home, took me an hour on Memorial Day. So I hope to avoid the madness and take it easy.

Work, work, work. Afterward, relax with a couple of Doctor Who 2005 episodes, tweak the site, perhaps even speak with a certain gentleman. Ah, yes, and I shall be breathing.

This weekend is always a big one in my family. We have my Dad's B-Day, Canada Day, my Bro-In-Law's B-Day and the 4th of July. This year my Grandparents are down from Canada for a family reunion/dedication of a monument to our (great great) Grandpa. Also, my sister and her husband (the one with the B-Day) are coming up from California. It will be a long but fun and exciting weekend! Hope every one has a great Holiday!

That's cool schris!
We're going drinking in some Hermosa bars by the beach, then I'm having a barbeque at my apartment. I live a block from the pier, and if it wasn't for the gorgeous huge tree in the back yard, you could see the fireworks perfectly from my balcony. (Maybe I'll even get a freakin' tan -- swimming nights doesn't seem to be doing anything for my skin tone.) Happy fourth!!

On the 4th I worked all morning. But the big deal was my cousin's wedding on the 9th up north in Wisconsin, so I left a few days before the 9th to help set up. It was a blast! I was a bridesmaid, and I also performed a song I composed for the occasion.

Very cool. Wow you got to perform a song you wrote, that's tremendous. Did you get a good response?
