Thank you for the birthday wishes! 27, that's going to take some getting used to. I had a great birthday though -- we were on a four day pack trip in the Sierras (around Rock Creek near Bishop). Enjoyed some great hiking and fishing, and swam in some beautiful lakes!

Didn't there used to be a list at the bottom of the forums page which named the members with a birthday that week? I'm guessing the birthday thread grew silent because that list went away. Or did I just imagine the whole thing? Thanks!

Unfortunately we couldn't import the birthday dates when we switched to the new forum software, so most of the forum users don't have a birthday set in their user profile.

I don't know why the software also didn't even display "No birthdays today" on the frontpage, but I changed the code a bit and now it does.

I just noticed that the format for how the date of birth is listed in profiles has changed. The day is listed first and then the month and year. However, it used to be month, date, then year. The order changed, but the input remained the same. Therefore, my birth date became 05/10/1968, when it is really October 05, 1968. I'm not forty yet! So, be sure to check if your date of birth is listed correctly.

I think another difference is that it used to post a birthday several days in advance so that if you you don't visit everyday, you could still be in the birthday loop.

IIRC, the front page of the forum used to list all upcoming birthdays for the next week so that we knew when they were getting close. Now you have to be here the day of a birthday in order to see it. :bday:
