Wow, thanks everyone! :D :D

Guess what I received in my mail on my birthday: Yes, a MSCL DVD set. Talk about perfect timing (no not from AU, from DeepDiscountDVD...). And no taxes, no customs :-)

@Nostradamus: very nice avatar ;-)

Only one more year before you're legal.

Thanks candygirl!

I talked to my mom last night and joked that I was now at the most useless age, where I can 1)get married 2)vote 3)join the army 4)buy cigs and porn 5)get a membership to video rental stores (though I have only actually done #2 and #5) but I can't go to a club/bar and listen to some music. My mom replied, "No - 39 is the most useless age. You'll know when you get there."

I hope everyone else is having a very merry unbirthday!

P.S. If it is my headache, I hope your weekend was great all the same.

It was my MSCL birthday - one year since I registered this username!

I celebrated by watching MSCL and eating cookies, so it was a nice weekend.

Then I watched the Sopranos (I'm still on Season 1 - I don't have HBO so I have been catching up by using Netflix). Nothing like some mobster violence to round out a nice weekend.

Yum Sopranos. Great show, and i'm not just saying that because im from joisey.

The DVD sets are real nice for the show. I have 1 - 3 so far, desperately waiting the next set (yes i know season 4 just ended this weekend. But i need to rewatch it all again lol). And if they do the Six Feet Under Season 1 (which i've been waiting for ever for!) half as good as the sopranos set(s)... <shudder> :)

Candy you should definitely check out the Six Feet Under dvds when they come out in February. I have a feeling you will like that show.

I have been waiting for Six Feet Under to be released on DVD!! I don't understand what they are waiting for - it seems to have enough fan support to sell well. I am just being selfish though - I have heard so many good things about the show that I have been trying to find a way to watch it. I thought DVD would be a sure thing, but not even season one has been released.

February 4th is the release date. And amazon has it for $75, so you should be able to get it in Best Buy during the first week for like 60 - 65 bucks :) expensive, but worth it!

I too am surprised at how long they are taking to release it. I just hope that the set shows the time they (hopefully) put into it. <cough>unlike AU/BMG</cough>

Just marked my calendar!

:D

I kind of lumped Six Feet Under, Oz, the Sopranos, and Sex and the City into one big category of Cable TV Shows I Can't Watch But Everyone Talks About. It's interesting that some of them were released to DVD so quickly and others...not so much. I just finished watching the first season of Oz on DVD and I'm panting to see what happens next but I have to wait until January when S2 is released. I guess it was a good thing that I didn't start watching sooner or I'd be going crazy!

Side note: Although I read Buffy wildfeed incessantly, I refuse to even go to HBO's website for fear of inadvertently finding out what has happened on any of these shows before I watch them on DVD.

I really don't understand why Oz and SFU are on a much slower release schedule. All four shows have been critically acclaimed and seem to have strong fan bases (and quite honestly I prefer Oz to Sex and the City).

But MSCL already proved that fans cannot possibly understand the mindset behind studio decisions.

HBO has had some great shows for the last couple of years. Much better than the earlier years of cable tv shows (Dream On anyone? Not that i totally hated that show, it had its moments..but sopranos it is not). And HBO still has its crap shows (Sex in the City, Mind of the Married Man).

I can understand the delay and slowness in getting Oz on DVD. I love the show, but I can see why they would have thought that it wouldnt do that well on DVD. In fact I don't know even now if it did do that great sales wise. I still haven't purchased it plan to sometime after Xmas.

For them to sit on SFU is just unreal though. After all teh critical acclaim and awards you would think they would have dropped something out on the market real quick.

But look at Futurama. Fox didnt think it would do well because of low ratings (hmm wonder why? s**t timeslot maybe?). But they must have kicked themselves once they figured out how many of us just went and bought the region 2 releases of seasons 1 and 2. Now Season 1 is supposedly coming out next year.

The mind of a tv exec must be a vast empty place...

I used to like watching Dream On. I never did get Larry Sanders though. Man, do I miss cable.

Although technically, this isn't my birthday I thought I would use the birthday thread for a little shameless self-promotion and celebration:

My 1000th post - WOO HOO!!

Never underestimate the power of OCD.

Larry Sanders rocked.

I'm not saying I didn't watch Dream On, it is just not the same caliber as the shows on now on HBO.
