It was such a trip watching them again and seeing how we dressed back then. Its amazing that people could wear THAT much plaid and still be cool.

Angela even mentioned "Stone Temple Pilots" as one of her favorite bands in "Father Figures". STP were besides "Pearl Jam" (and I think "Soundgarden") one of the few Seattle-based Grunge bands who had international success. I was hooked to their first two albums "Core" and "Purple" ... still two of my favorite cds today.

BTW: the other bands Angela mentioned were Smashing Pumpkins, Rage Against the Machine, Porno for Pyros and ... Billie Holliday. But I guess the authors only selected these bands as Angela's favorites in that scene because of their weird names (well except for Billie Holliday :-)).

Definitely grunge. Definitely reminiscent of 1994. It is amazing how much plaid we wore back then!

Our discussion of all the plaid:

I don't know if they were chosen just for the weird names, those were some of the biggest bands of the time in that (not-exactly-correct-probably-shouldnt-even-be-called-one) genre. Smashing Pumpkins were huge at that time, as was Rage, Porno for Pyros was fairly large too (couldn't stand that band...never could be what Jane's was, and if I never hear that goddamn "we'll make great pets" song again it will be too soon <shudder>).

I don't remember Rage being that big at the time. I remember them getting big and thinking, "Yeah, I knew of them back when MSCL used to be on."

Oh, and Alice In Chains was definitely the best grunge band.
