Just to be a bit controversial, i have to say that Lennon was the main man of the Beatles, and to be quite honest i cant think of many songs that i like on which McCartney had the lead. This is of course only IMHO but did anyone really like anything that Wings did? Wheras when Lennon left the Beatles, he created some of the greatest songs of the seventies. Id be interested to hear any of your views on this.

I've Just Seen A Face

This rehearsal studio I use to work in had an old issue of Playboy that had John Lennon talking about every Beatles song (really cool, wish I could remember which issue so I could track it down) and I don't know if this was John being John but he said a lot of the songs that are down as Paul writing them he had actually given to him. Could be bullsh!t, but I like to believe Lennon wasn't lying about that.

To quote the Dead Milkmen:

Ironic that Paul is now the one who is making a big stink about who wrote which song (and changing the Lennon/McCartney credits to McCartney/Lennon on his new live CD).

I have no CDs by The Beatles or Elvis. Amazing. Anyway, I've always liked "Yesterday" by The Beatles. I can't really think of any favorite Elvis songs. It's been awhile since I've listened to his stuff. However, I'm probably an Elvis man to borrow from Pulp Fiction. Elvis was the king.

Edit: "I Can't Help Loving You" (I think that's right) "Viva Las Vegas" (cheesy, but what can you do?), and "Heartbreak Hotel" come to mind for Elvis.

I'll throw in "Hey Jude" by the Beatles.

But, I'm still an Elvis man.
