HBO is notoriously slow for getting stuff out on DVD. I would expect it sometime this year. Maybe summer at the earliest IMO. Hopefully I am wrong with my assumption and it will be out earlier.

Unless you're Sex and the City or the Sopranos, HBO has no concept of "timely release." I can excited that the third season of Oz (which aired 2000-2001) is being released in a few weeks. I'm still waiting for the second season of Six Feet Under too.

Hopefully all of the Golden Globe Awards that Angels in America won will convince HBO to get started on the DVD set.

Release info from tvshowsondvd:
HBO and Warner Home Video are pleased to announce a 2-DVD package, scheduled for release on June 1st. List price is $39.98, with a running time of 352 minutes.

The Tony-award-winning play's Pulitzer-prize-winning story was split into two books, and each book became a major chapter in the mini-series. Those two chapters are each given their own disc in this upcoming DVD release: "Part 1: Millenium Approaches" and "Part 2: Perestroika".

Video will be widescreen 16x9. The soundtrack will be available in English 5.1 Dolby Surround, English 2.0 Stereo, or Spanish 2.0 Stereo. Subtitles are English, Spanish, and French, plus closed captioning.
