Well I watched the DVD of this last night. It was not what I had expected at all. I expected more of a horror/zombie flick and it is more of a thriller than anything else. It only really gets scary when you think about it really happening or if you think of yourself in the characters situation. I am glad I imported this disc, since I most likely wouldn't have gone to see it in the theater.

I definitely recommend it to everyone to see, there are some interesting things in the movie and it was shot pretty damn good.

Anyone else here seen it? Remember to use [ spoiler ][ /spoiler ] tags since it will not be released in american theaters till the 27th of this month.

Not seen it yet but it's imminent. No fewer than 4 separate people have recommended it, saying it is really spooky and really good.

Actually, I plan to rent it this weekend sometime.

Have now seen this film and I have to say, the recommendations were spot on! A brilliant film, well shot, well acted, with a great storyline...

It did give me a sort of sleepless night though, and I couldn't have the window open... It's definitely very clever, disturbing, humourous, tearjearking and cool all at the same time... I really enjoyed the film, and the most disturbing bit was realising that although I moan about horrendously overcrowded London all the time, waking up and finding it deserted would really really freak me out.

Fnord, if you have the DVD, check out the 'making of' featurette... there's a guy on there, John Stanford (looks like Father Christmas) and I've met him a number of times (we work at the same organisation). We've had meetings about commercialising his research etc... he really knows his stuff, but for the first couple of times I met him, I just couldn't get over that beard! It was pretty cool to see him on the DVD, even if it was only a short few spots

I really enjoyed it (except for the few @$$holes sitting behind me talking through the whole thing and answering thier cellphones a number of times).

It was cool to see a "realistic" zombie movie. There hasn't been one of those since Day of the Dead. (Romero had been the only one that knew how to do a zombie movie). It wasn't over the top at all, and treated everything realistically. I'd say it could definitely fit into his Night/Dawn/Day zombie world.

I guess I'd hoped it would be a little more artistic, and go into the psychology of it a bit more, much like The Beach did...but it was still a fun movie.

I saw this movie and I was not at all impressed with it. I was expecting to be scared but sadly I was not. The plot took a nose dive once the second half hit and I found myself becoming bored. The movie shot all well and good and all but the story and the soundtrack could've been way better.

I will agree, the story could have been better, especially once they [spoiler]get to the military "base"[/spoiler] I wasn't expecting it to go that way. I also didn't care much for the ending, but the alternate ending is even worse IMO. There are also very few movies I liek the ending too anyway these days.

I do not remember one thing about the soundtrack at all, so I am guessing it wasn't that good. Generally though I don't care for his movies' soundtracks.

What was the alternate ending? I'll be damned if I'm going to pay another $8.50 just to see 2 more minutes ofa movie that I wouldn't really care to watch again.

Its such a cheap cheap tactic. Kinda makes me sick that they're doing this. If you're going to make a movie, make your freakin movie...talk about revisionist history!

Just an update... what I posted before as the alternate ending I was incorrect on. The alternate ending that is playing in US theaters now is actually on the UK DVD as a storyboard only...they filmed it and have released it in the theaters after the movie finishes.

I know the ending now and it is a bit different.

I really enjoyed this film. It was very different from any hollywood film which I was pleased to see. I got scared because I'm always tense waiting for some ugly monster to pop out of nowhere

But the end was... well, I guess for me unexpected but I'd liked it if the end was what everyone believed before they knew. *** not trying to spoil anything here ***

It's not the best film ever but it was different and I liked it.

I have to agree that Romero was the best @ making zombie movies because I don't like them, but I like his movies. (Do this make any sense?) His ability as a film maker made me overcome my deep dislike of anything w/zombies. Anyway....if you notice throughout the movie there are tons of homages to the Dead trilogy. Does a certain zombie remind you of Bob in DAY OF THE DEAD?

This movie was a lot different than what I expected and I liked it. I have seen the UK dvd w/the alternate ending and must say that the original ending is better. It just has a different feeling and I don't think the movie could have worked that way.
