OT: What other shows... on DVD

MSCL may be gone from the tv screen, but there are lots of good (and bad) new productions airing each week. Talk with other MSCL fans about your favorite shows or the shows you hate. Of course you can also discuss TV show DVD releases here.

The Newsroom was wonderfully dark. I only caught the latter half of the series,
and would love to see those first episodes sometime in the future.

How about Salute Your Shorts? I always used to love that show... (yes, I'm an old-timer Nickelodeon fanatic).

i would love to see all of the MTV cartoons released, particularly Aeon Flux and most of all the Maxx -- and *all* of the episodes this time...on the video they cut two or three installments out...though i doubt there is much chance of ever seeing this one out anytime soon...the fanbase has dropped significantly i'm sure. i maintain it was one of the best shows MTV ever ran.

sigh.
i actually put that cartoon right up there with MSCL on my list of best tv shows ever...

How could I forget Sports Night? I've been waiting for that DVD set forever, and I'll still buy it even though I spent ridiculous amounts of money to get in ov VHS.

With MSCL, Sports Night, 24, season 2 of The Simpsons, and season 1 of The Larry Sanders Show which I still have to get, this is going to end up being a great and milestone year - albeit a hugely expensive one - for TV shows on DVD.

1) For sure SEINFIELD...the best funny series ever
2) "Alias" the best action series ever made on a tv screen
3) "Six feet under" the best actual "drama" series
4) "the wonder years" I like this show very much
and I would dream to see "24" "Homicide", "the practice" and "Once and again" that are shows that I do not know but that have very good reputation... ( I live in France and it is sometimes difficult to see these shows...)
I read that some people would like to have "Dukes of Hazzard" on DVD!!!!???? Are you crazy...what would you do with the complete series of the stupidiest show on earth...but I want to give my contribution and give also a list of the most awfull tv series that I want to see on DVD: "Hotel" "Matt Houston", "TJ Hooker" (hummm Heather in uniform...), "Fantasy Island", "the love boat", "The fall guy" ( hummm an other Heather (Thomas) ...) and Knight Rider with the most ridiculous actor on earth David Hasselhoff... I lived in the Us during 1984 that explains this nostalgic touch...and Heather Thomas and Heather Locklear...you know... I was just in love of these two...See you soon !!all...

The Wonder Years is legendary - I already have the first three seasons on video and am waiting for them to air the remaining seasons on TV1.
Six feet under is also brilliant, but in Australia is usually given a really insulting time, and horribly clashes with Buffy, so I've missed heaps, but love it anyway.
Another show that I loved, and would be great to get boxed as I think there weren't many episodes anyway was TWITCH CITY. That was a trippy show, that definitely appealed to the couch potato in me. I love the episode when curtis' cat takes over the world. Brilliant

HOMICIDE!!!

it would probably be near impossible, but i would love to see all of the episodes of Mystery Science Theater 3000 out on dvd, rather than the random mishmash that they've released so far, which don't seem to follow any logical order from what i gather.

perhaps in the not too distant future, in somewhere in time and space...

oh yeah, and K-man -- 'Strangers with Candy' was the dirtiest, most hysterical show ever...you can still catch it at like three in the morning on like sunday nights or whatever. you ever catch any episodes of the Upright Citizens Brigade?

I totally with you on Homicide and Nowhere Man. I would love to see ExoSquad on DVD.

The "Arizona Werewolf" episode of MST3K is possibly the funniest anything I've ever seen anywhere.

>< I have looked high and low for 'The Newsroom' (per your recommendation) but can only find it for sale (VHS) and not for rent or on TV in reruns. ><

This is the best website for The Newsroom:

http://www.connarch.com/The_Newsroom/

I just learned that almost 6 years since the show aired, a 2-hour sequel is in production and planned for the upcoming fall schedule. Of course, if you don't live in Canada, that doesn't really help, but hopefully it'll quickly hit PBS. If you ever liked shows such as The Larry Sanders Show or Sports Night, this is one to check out.

I'll nominate "Psi Factor: Chronicles of the Paranormal", but only the first season. This was a unique and fun Canadian production based (loosely) on real events. Despite some sad monster FX the cast and crew actually made the materiel believable and occasionally even spooky. Unfortunately, after the success of the 1st season, the Powers That Be got a bright idea to mainstream the show, which of course turned it into a cheap rip-off of "X-Files".

Just to add my own:

The Mysterious Cities of Gold (cartoon aired here in the UK around 88/89. I think it's Spanish, but it was fantastic)
The Wonder Years - I can't believe you can't even get many of these on VHS!!)
Party of Five - I've been waiting for someone else to put this. It was on around the same time as MSCL in the UK, in fact I seem to remember them both being in the same time slot but on different days. Wasn't as good though was it?

Oh my god!! I loved that show, I used to watch it all the time when I was a kid.
I totally loved that gold eagle that they used to fly around in.
None of my friends seem to remember it at all.
It just disappeared.
