Daria on DVD!

MSCL may be gone from the tv screen, but there are lots of good (and bad) new productions airing each week. Talk with other MSCL fans about your favorite shows or the shows you hate. Of course you can also discuss TV show DVD releases here.

I know several of our members here have been hoping for this to happen! Go to TV Shows on DVD to read all the details!

Patty: If Rayanne's not seeing you, and we're not seeing you, who is seeing you?
Graham: And how much of you?
Angela: Dad!
Graham: Oh, I'm sorry! I asked a question about your life, didn't I? Woah, what came over me?

YEA!!! I will be so happy if this actually happens! I think I'll have to throw a Daria-themed party! [I hope my cartoon-crush on Trent will not have faded too much by the time I actually get to see the show again.]

Thanks for the post Candygirl!

Long overdue, of course, and quite welcome. If you've never before encountered Daria Morgendorffer's brand of sardonic-to-cynical wisdom, and the hilarity from the high-school stereotypes wickedly satirized around her, you're in for a treat.

The DVD set probably won't have all, or even more than a fraction, of the original music cues from '97-to-'01 popular hits. The licensing fees are just too expensive, and that's what has held up a full DVD set longer than anything else. (The two made-for-TV "Daria" movies have long been available on DVD.)

A few of the most important musical elements, beyond Splendora's witty series theme song, will probably be included. "The Road Worrier," for example, uses R.E.M.'s "Everybody Hurts" in a specific and funny reference. (Those here can think of another show that used it, I'd say {g})

This ROCKS.

It will be mine. Oh yes. It WILL be mine.

Word on the street is -- MAY 11th!!!
I broke out the movies a couple of weeks ago, and remembered just why it's gonna be so worth the wait. Every character is hilarious, but particularly Jake and Tiffany.
So excited!

It recently dropped back to $46.99 for pre-order, $4 less than it had been listed for initially.

With how Amazon has been constantly fiddling on its DVD prices, though, I'd recommend looking for other outlets, and not pre-ordering. The set is likely to be even more deeply discounted elsewhere once it's actually released.

Waiting a few more days after the release date, continuing to watch one's "Daria" bootlegs, won't kill you {g}

By the way, individual episodes from seasons 1 and 2, soon to be likely joined by more, can be bought and downloaded from Amazon Video on Demand and from iTunes. A few of these are also available for "Daria World" app participants (free) on Facebook.

Initial reports are that these episodes ARE doing some substituting with generic music, such as for the R.E.M. song in "Road Worrier" and for "What Do You Want from Me?" in "Quinn the Brain." This may change with the discs that are released, but it's not likely.

Um, are there words??? 'Cuz yesterday I came home to find my dvds in the mail!!!

(Yes weirded out high schooler who was passing by, that was me who shouted for joy)

I actually typed this yesterday and it got deleted somehow, I had a quote from the dvd insert about the music, I'll retype it later...

Anyway, Ben Folds show last night AND Daria on dvd? Good day (filled with things I still love that I loved in high school)

I got my copy of Daria from Best Buy. It's $44.99 in their stores/on their site til May 15th, then the price jumps back up to $54.99. Although I was a little bit disappointed that it didn't come with a commemorative booklet (like MSCL did) along with that extras disc, I'm not complain any further because it's out and it's finally mine! The Daria Day intros are fantastic and I'm about 90% of the way through season 1. Definitely worth getting if you haven't yet!
