I like her ass a lot better than I like her nose!

:D

Now was that me, or Spike channeling himself through me?

Hey, maybe you can explain something. Until recently i had never seen Buffy (series or movie). It's actually rather amusing and i quite like the scenes where she gets to jab various vampires with wooden objects.

But for someone coming in late in the game, it's hard to figure out the details of the premise and past story.

Who the heck is Spike? Why can't he keese her off? Why can't she keese him off? And what's with this ability he has to go from basic punk to snarling vampire?

Oh, and why doesn't anybody in the town seem to find vampires odd? I had somehow gotten the impression that she kept whacking them and that kept the normal people ignorant of their presence.

---
On another aspect, i find Ms. Gellar a little peculiar period.

Nostradamas, what specifically draws your attention to her nose?

It's been a little while and i can't recall her ass well enough to comment on that at this time.

Nos' nose comment was retaliation to my initial plastic surgery comment somewhere near the beginning of this thread. I think.....

Or maybe he just gets off on noses :?

Noses and arses are all very good and well, but it's the ankles that get me going! :P

So-Called Loon: Look at a close-up of SMG's face and you will see that her schnoz is, is, err... odd!
Whether it's oddly cute or oddly disturbing is, as you can see, a matter of personal preference.

As for your other questions, it'd take several pages to do them justice, and they're better answered by watching the early episodes. Buffy can be bought or rented on VHS or DVD, and I think FX is still showing daily reruns in sequence, among other channels. Remember, BTVS has a lot of cliffhangers, so try to avoid spoilers for maximum suspense. You might even forego the new stuff until you've caught up on the old, but it depends on how much you value a linear perspective. Most episodes are quite enjoyable on their own. :)

Nothing finer than a well turned ankle.

I agree that a sentence or two doesn't do the Buffyverse justice. I don't know how much free time you have, but you can read the transcripts at http://www.studiesinwords.de - although it isn't EXACTLY the same as watching (duh), one of the great things about the show has always been the writing.

Before the DVDs came out, I caught myself up by reading an episode or two on my lunch break each day, and I was so impressed when I remembered how great the writing is. Once the cast hit its stride, the combination of the acting and the writing was amazing. FX just showed "I Was Made to Love you" a few days ago and just seeing SMG at the end ("Mom? Mommy?") had me in tears.

I'm a wuss!

CG: don't worry...you're not the only one. I cry at the "mom. mommy" line as well, though not as much as i do during the willow/tara scene in "the body" when will keeps changing clothes, and then when anya has her whole "i don't understand" speech. not to mention the ending of "passion" from season 2. i must have seen that a million times, and yet every time SMG says "i wasn't ready, but i think i finally am now" as willow takes over teaching miss calendar's CS class, i find myself shedding a few tears. such good writing...

so-called loon: while i agree with everyone that a brief synopsis cannot possibly capture the whole Spike story, i will try to point you in the right direction. transcripts to read (the ones listed have essential Spike moments...it is much better to read all scripts, so you don't ruin surprises in the overall storyline, but if you really *just* want to know about Spike, read these):
season 2 - School Hard (introduces Spike), Becoming, Part II (I also recommend What's My Line, Parts I and II; Surprise, Innocence, Passion, I Only Have Eyes for You - these flesh out Spike's character development a bit more)
season 3 - Lover's Walk (the only ep with Spike from season 3)
season 4 - The Initiative, Pangs, Something Blue (no major developments, but Spike's role in this just so darn amusing) - there are plenty more Spike related episodes in this season, but none essential to the Buffy/Spike plot
season 5 - Out Of My Mind, Fool for Love, Crush, Intervention, The Gift (To be honest, I'd just read all of 5th season...)
season 6 - Bargaining, Afterlife, Life Serial (Act IV), Once More with Feeling, Smashed, Wrecked, As You Were (last scene), Seeing Red, Villains, Two to Go, Grave

wow looking at all of those, i wonder if i couldn't have explained it all in less typing than that...probably not. anyway, hope that helps! happy reading!

More crying moments:

Seeing Spike break down crying at the end of "The Gift." I mean, it's sad enough to see them all gathering and looking at the body, but to see Spike of all people, a murderous vampire who killed two slayers himself, lose it like that...

Watching the climax of "Becoming Part 2" - it reminds me of Baz Luhrmann's Romeo and Juliet - the eyes opening, the awareness, and then BAM! Unfortunately the last time I watched that episode, my boyfriend looked up and saw Acathla coming to life and said, "What's up with Shrek?" which made the moment a little less sad. I was having a cathartic moment!

[Since we're on the subject of Buffy's boyfriends, I would like to add that I laughed my ass off when Riley left in his stupid helicopter - both times. Good riddance!]

Those two tear jerking moments have more of a lead in, whereas the "mommy" thing takes about 10 seconds. The first time I saw that, I was shocked at how quickly I went from "the episode is almost over" to speechless and crying.

Why is it that Dawn's "mom...mommy?" in Conversations with Dead People soooo did not inspire any crying? Oh because she's totally annoying! I was hoping that the "get out get out GET OUT!" screech would never show itself again, but alas, it resurfaced this week.

I totally hear you there and quite agree....it perfectly coincides with Buffy saying "you have to be strong," and it kills me every time...because he's so strong, but he still breaks down...

Um, yes. It's funny because I have always said that I don't mind the *character* Dawn, I just hate the way she is portrayed. The screech does me in every time....so annoying! There's no middle ground with Dawn...doesn't matter if she's angry or scared, it always comes out as the same screech. Did you notice that the "get out get out GET OUT!" in Older and Far Away sounds exactly like the "get out get out GET OUT!" in Blood Ties? In one case she just found out that she's not real. In the other, she's upset because no one's ever around. You'd think there would be some difference in the delivery of the line, but wait, there's not...

Thanks for the Spike listings. I'm going to have to look into this old stuff and start taping. I seem to manage to miss both old and new episodes.

Yes, definitely start watching the reruns! The writing is great, but reading the transcripts doesn't let you see how incredible James Marsters is - he can convey so much without saying a word.

Devon Gummersall on Felicity

Back to the topic at hand, Felicity, Season 1 DVD.....

For those who haven't seen it, Devon Gummersall appears in several episodes of Season One.

Felicity is a fantastic series - romantic at its core, quirky in its own way, and an ensemble cast much to be admired! Great writing, amazing acting, and well put together! It's sad that it's gone but it had a good run. My favourite seasons were Seasons 1 and 3.

Felicity season 1 looked really good....

I've heard you shouldn't say anything if you can't say something good. Plus i already made some comments.

But this is writing/typing so...

Ahhhhhhhhh, so many memories. The visit to the bride of Frankenstein's hairdresser. Ben, the incredibly boring doofus. Neal, the wishy-washy-wuss. All that moral worrying so she can lose her virginity to some complete stranger? Such romance! Such creativity. So many bleedin' plot reversals. So many interesting plot-lines tossed aside. Such GLOOM, even at parties. Yes, every moment a twisted rubberband of tight stretched nerves.
Changing her major in a second, and her mind even faster. Her roommate undergoing her great metamorphosis from interesting, funny, and inexplicable, to bitchy and boring. Felicity becoming the human ping-pong ball, knocking back and forth between the male leads until you want to slap her. Characters of little point appearing and gladly disappearing. Then horribly returning. Interesting characters vanishing as fast as their plotlines. That terrible pointless meandering stumbling death.

Other than those things, though. It was just fine.
