Flight Of The Conchords

Sooooo . . .

Anybody watchin' this?

It turned out to be about a thousand times funnier than I thought it was going to be (for some reason, the ads made me think of Napoleon Dynamite mixed with Entourage . . . a concept I wasn't exactly thrilled about).

So far, my favorite episode has been the one where Jemaine goes out with Bret's ex . . . mostly because of the Robot song (Binary Solo!).

. . . and for the brilliance of rhyming Kebab, with cab.

Yeah, I'm pretty much obsessed with this show (check the signature at the bottom). My boyfriend wakes up to "I'm the hip-hop-popotamus; my rhymes are bottomless" and everything under the moon gets questioned with a "Why? Why? Why exactly? Could you be more specific with your feedback?" I wasn't crazy about the David Bowie episode (although I did love the Labyrinth recreation). I too love the kebab rhyming, and the mugging scene was awesome, as was the race war, and the song about what Brett's girlfriend may or may not be in to. I need this soundtrack in the biggest way. Their earlier cd doesn't have most of the songs from the show. This show is a pretty good consolation for Deadwood coming to an end (with which I was also obsessed).

"My rhymes and records don't get played
Because my rhymes and records don't get made
And if you rap like me, you don't get paid
And if you roll like me, you don't get laid

Other rappers diss me, they say my rhymes are sissy
" :D

Hee, one of my co-workers was watching this on his lunch break the other day and we were totally cracking up!

So, yesterday in Hollywood there was a free Flight of the Conchords concert. Unfortunately, we didn't get in -- they let in the first 600, and there were probably at least another 400 wanting desperately to get in. My friend and I were trying to devise a plan to take Bret & Jemaine out for pie, or a red delicious and a banana, after the show, but couldn't find an angle. We did see them playing through the window though, which was mildly satisfying. Their CD in mailbox when I returned last night was funny timing. Anyway, spread the word -- the Conchords rock the party.

Hee, sometimes I create this awesome fantasies where I get to take someone famous who I loooooove out for the best pizza evah while they are in town. The closest I've gotten to that is going to yoga class with a musician who was visiting. FYI - not a lot of opportunity to talk while sweating up a storm in yoga, but I'll take what I can get.
