Lost

MSCL may be gone from the tv screen, but there are lots of good (and bad) new productions airing each week. Talk with other MSCL fans about your favorite shows or the shows you hate. Of course you can also discuss TV show DVD releases here.

Lost

Post by Natasha (candygirl) » Sep 24th 2004, 5:25 pm

The new JJ Abrams show premiered a few nights ago, and I liked it (woo hoo, two for two in my new fall schedule choices!). I was surprised that ABC was willing to show such a scary plane crash (and so much blood) at 8pm. I will be interested to see how the stories develop over the season and what the big scary monster turns out to be.

There were a ton of Hey! It's That Guy! moments. Matthew Fox (Charlie on Party of Five), Dominic Monaghan (Merry from LoTR), Harold Perrineau (Augustus Hill on Oz), Daniel Dae Kim (Gavin on Angel), Naveen Andrews (Singh in the English Patient), Terry O'Quinn (Alias and West Wing), Emilie de Ravin (Tess on Roswell), Greg Grunberg (Sean on Felicity, Weiss on Alias).

Ratings for the pilot look good - according to TV Guide:
The premiere of J.J. Abrams' acclaimed castaway thriller Lost found 18 million viewers from 8 to 9 pm/ET, crushing CBS's Dr. Phil special, NBC's Hawaii and Fox's That '70s Show.
Unfortunately, ABC decided to split the two hour pilot into two separate episodes (you know, so they could air the two hour premiere of the Bachelor). The second hour of the pilot will air next week, but if you are a purist and want to watch them together as intended, they will air back to back on October 2.

I heard good things about Lost from my coworkers. I question whether the moster will live up to the suspense they build. I watched Hawaii instead. I've caught a couple episodes so far and I like it, but I'm entertianed by anything dealing with the islands after spending some time there. It's like my mini vacation every wednesday.

I was tempted to watch Hawaii for the scenery, but it got such awful reviews that I figured I was better off looking at my vacation photos. Then I found out that Lost was filmed in Hawaii, so bonus - interesting show, nice scenery!

Without sounding too mena I can't believe anyone would pick the very mediocre Hawaii over Lost?

Ya Lost is maybe a bit too high concept (though I liek the monster) but it's just SO engrossing and different from any other drama on Network tv right now--So refreshing.

I don't know what this Hawaii show is, and I'm not feeling Lost -- but I absolutely love Dom.
Sometimes I write a little MSCL fanfiction: https://www.fanfiction.net/u/1039807/Jody-Barsch
Also, after multiple V. Mars reiterations, and finally a Deadwood movie, still wishing for some continuation of The Riches !

I tried to read the review, got to page three, clicked ahead to found there were 9 total and gave up to take a shower. I'm going to go read a book instead, but I like the reviewer for his hawaii references, I'm on the same page with him. I'm trying to keep up with too many shows right now, I'm starting to give up and leave the TV be. My roomate wants cable, I can't find time to watch the shows I like on the three channels we have.

Hee, I read the Lost recap as soon as it was up too. I skipped the part where Dan revealed the secret of the Iron Giant (because I'm only a Jossverse spoiler whore!), but the recap was hilarious. I loved his Korean interpretations too.

As for Dan's Hawai'i fetish (hee!), I'm all over that. I have been there three times, and I would love to go back again.

I've only read a few different writers on TWoP, but my favorite trend is how they name their characters. that is what gets me the most! like when they name a character for who the actor has played before. like on Smallville the dad is always Bo Duke. and on Lost, he kept calling Mathew Fox, Fox, and Spike on Buffy, Spicule.

It can be a little confusing if you aren't familiar with all the code names and you try to jump into the recaps. 24 had some good code names too.

I have been watching The Lost latley. I think its a very good show. The plane crash was incredible. I love how there are so many different people on it. There can just be so many story lines. The show could last forever..

I'm switching over to lost now that Hawaii tanked and the moved LAX into it's spot. Now I don't have the conflict. I did enjoy last weeks episode. It's like Survivor, only with actors and more interesting storylines.
