Red Dwarf

OK, there's already a Red Dwarf subthread on the 'What TV shows do you own?' thread but I thought I'd start a new one because it's such a good show it deserves it.

So, I just got the Series III DVD and I have to say, to all those pondering your purchase of this set, stop procrastinating, and buy it (or make someone else buy it for you) now!
It has quite the funniest extra ever on it - ie the episode 'Backwards' played in reverse, with the result that you can hear what all the backwards people are actually saying. I won't spoil it for you by telling you the lines but seriously, you have to see it. Talk about future-proofing!

Anyway, I haven't checked out the other extras properly yet but I have watched a couple of the cast commentaries and they are hilarious too...

Starbug,

Great thread idea. My favorite character from the Red Dwarf series has to be the alternate dimension hero: Ace Rimmer. "What a Guy!"

LOL!

The first two seasons were okay, mildy humorous but okay. Season 3 though, just takes off and never looks back. Interestingly enough I have heard that Star Trek's Patrick Stewart is a huge fan.

My favourite character has a sort of fluid persona. Sometimes it's Lister (hey, Rimmer just needs to be told... :-))... sometimes Rimmer is astonishingly funny. the Cat is I think the best-written character - translating cat behaviours into a human is hilarious. But I love Kryten too - when he breaks his programming and says something offensive. It's just so well written.

I'm not so keen on Holly - I mean, it's an idea they nicked from 2001 and I don't think it works too well in a comedy vein, apart from in Queeg.

The first two seasons the computer of Red Dwarf was played by a man, in later seasons it was done by a woman. I liked the woman better.

Kryten is stitch, especially when he has deal with Rimmer.

This is a request for help - I'm trying to find the words to the songs from Red Dwarf especially Tongue-Tied. Does anyone out there know where I might find them?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers!

Here they are:

When I saw you for the first time (first time)
My knees began to quiver (quiver)
And I got a funny feeling (feeling)
In my kidneys and my liver (digestive system baby)
My hands they started shakin' (shakin')
My heart began a-thumpin' (boom, boom, boom)
My breakfast left my body (huey, huey, huey)
Now darling tell me something

Why do you make me tongue tied (tongue tied) tongue tied
Whenever you are near me? (near me)
Tied tongue (tied tongue)
Tied tongue (tied tongue)
Whenever you're in town
You make me feel a clown, girl

Yes, you make me tongue tongue (tied tied) tongue tied
Why can't I tell you clearly? (clearly)
Tied tied, tongue tongue (tongue tied, tongue tied)
Whenever you're around

I saw you 'cross the dance floor (dancin')
I thought of birds and bees (reproductive system baby)
But when I tried to speak to ya (talk, talk)
My tongue unravelled to my knees (flippety-flippety-flop)
I tried to say "I love you" (love you)
But it came out kind of wrong, girl (wrong girl)
It sounded like "nunubididoo" (tongue tied)
Nuh-mur-nuh-murh-ni-nong-nurl

That's 'cause you make me tongue tied (tongue tied) tongue tied
Whenever you are near me (near me)
I'm nurmy murmy (nurmy murmy)
Murmy nurmy (nurmy murmy)
Whenever you're in town (in town)
My trousers they go brown, girl

Yes, you make me nongy nangy (nangy nongy) tongue tied
Why can't I tell you clearly? (clearly)
Be-dobby-durgle (dobby durgle)
Tongue tied (tongue tied)
Whenever you're around

Oh, I'm beggin' on my knees
Sweet, sweet darling, listen please
Understand me when I say
Gedurble-diggle-doggle-niggle-foggle-nibble-nay

I'm trying to say I'm tongue tied (tongue tied) tongue tied
Whenever you are near me (really)
I'm nurmy murmy (nurmy murmy)
Murmy nurmy (murmy nurmy)
Whenever you're in town (in town)
I drool so much I drown, girl

Yes, you make me nongy nangy (nangy nongy) ningy nongy
Why can't I tell you clearly (clearly)
Ge-dobby-durgle (dobby durgle)
Durgle dobby (durgle dobby)
Whenever you're around (around)
Whenever you're around, girl

I really enjoy this show. It makes me crack up like no other. My favorite character is Lister, he is not how you would imagine the last man alive being but for this show it really works.

Is the Season IV DVD worth picking up to? I am currently looking into getting them.

Definately. Been a while since I have seen Red Dwarf, but after season two the show really picks up.
