Senator Springer

I was going to post this in "Everything Else" or "Political Discussion," but it seems more appropriate here in the TV forum.

People laughed at Jesse Ventura running for office, but now it looks like Jerry Springer will run for the Senate. Awesome.

:wink:

Now we just have to wait for Ah-nold to admit he wants to run for governor and we'll be set.

It's the end of the world. :shock:

Yeah, I thought he would be gearing up to the idea of a second career in politics. After all, nobody watches his show anymore.

On the subject of Ah-nold, I read the other day that Ah-nold's real ambition was to become President of the USA. Only he is thwarted by the fact that you have a law that means that nobody born outside the USA can be president.

Thank god. :D

Yup,

Been news here in Ohio for a while now. He was supposed to announce today whether he will run or not but has put off that announcement till next week.

Sad thing is he is the best Democratic hopeful for Senator that Ohio has had in years.

Wasn't he a Mayor of some major city years ago?

And now Larry Flynt has filed to run for governor of California in the recall election - and to think we laughed when Jesse Ventura announced his political plans...

How correct your are. Back when Disco was king and the mighty Ohio froze over. He was called the boy mayor. He got into hot water when he wrote a check for services rendered at a house of ill repute.

Then he worked at the local NBC affliate WLWT Channel 5 as an anchor, giving some rather insightful political commentaries. Then he started the Jerry Springer show here in Cincinnati. While it was broadcast here it was more like Donahue covering political and health topics.

Then Jerry went to the big time, Chicago and less intellectual topics for his shows. The rest is history.

As disappointing as that is, at least Larry Flynt is signed up for the California governor recall election.

...and Arnold Schwartzenegger, Andrea Huffington, and a cast of thousands.

I am not certain if Gray Davis' possible sucessor will be a better govenor or not, but the recall election certainly is entertaining if nothing else.

<Gary steps before a podium in front of a bunch of reporters>

Me: Ladies and Gentleman, I'd like to announce my intention to run for Governor of the State of California.

I intend to reach the people, provide them with the basic needs entitled to them, and bring this state back under control.

Reporter: Mr. Gary, Mr. Gary!

Me: Yes?

Reporter: Does this mean you'll be moving to California from your native New Jersey?

Me: No. (big smile)

Reporter (somewhat puzzled): Well... how do you plan to run, much less govern the state, if you don't live there??

<firmly grabs both sides of the podium>
Me: Why, through the best manner possible. The people don't want the government in their homes, they just want it to do it's job. Therefore, I will govern over the internet.

<silence>

Me: (bigger smile): Thank you!

<marching band kicks in>
