Self-Esteem

The writers for this show have such a knack for including hidden meanings and things in the background that add to the show. Just a second ago I was watching the part in Self-Esteem where Katimski reads the sonnet, and I noticed that the sonnet is written on the chalkboard behind him. Everytime the word "red" is used in the sonnet, it is underlined with red chalk and sticks out from the rest of the words. Funny how this is the title of the song Jordan writes, which Angela thinks is written for her. It just really emphasizes the whole idea that the woman in the sonnet is "Red". Is Angela. At least in Jordan's mind.

Never noticed that before - that's cool. I'll keep an eye out for it. What's also weird.....last night I dreamt I was on American Airlines (I live in the UK but have flown with them on several occasions to the US and internally) and anyway, I was sat on this plane when 'RED' was played out over the plane's intercom - it was Jordan's voice and then slowly the song turned in to Enrique Iglesias singing 'Hero'. Very odd.....I can hear it now. I am scared of flying despite the fact I have done so countless times......but ever since that film 'Final Destination' it has gotten even worse....and my dream was actually a nightmare but anyway - I am somewhat loosing the point now!

Talking of AA - here is my favourite quote from the times I have travelled to and from the States....."We know you have a choice in Air-travel and we'd like to thank you for choosing American'.

Well - I'll make sure I check out that scene :0) I absolutely adore that sonnet - and one day my boyfriend (ex that he is now) bought me a book of Shakespeare's sonnets because it was when 'Shakespeare in Love' had come out and I had a crush on Joseph Fiennes, anyway, this book was full of pics from the film but it turns out that (even though my bloke had no idea about MSCL or my favourite sonnet) that this sonnet was in the book! Now I can read along to it (even though I know it off-by-heart!)........My mistress eye's..........

Hi Angelika!

Interesting observation --- I never noticed that... It's another great example of the level of detail behind the stories. Even though Jordan may have thought he was singing about his car, he was also at least subconsciously singing about Angela.

Best wishes,

PP

Hi Joanna,

I just wanted to say that I completely sympathize with your other posts regarding the DVD boxed set. I feel like we are all out on a limb having paid close to 100 U.S. dollars for the boxed set without really any guarantee that we will ever see the DVDs or our money back. While I definitely respect those folks that have genuinely and honestly worked hard to make the boxed set a reality, in various posts it is also clear that many of them are unsympathetic to the fact that we as consumers are way out on a limb for this. I personally could lose $100 and it wouldn't hurt me too bad, but for many that may be a lot of money --- and the circumstances surrounding this boxed set are more than a little suspicious, to say the least.

The absolute last thing we intended was to make people panicky. So, if you have concerns, I recommend emailing me at jasonr@mscl.com. You will get a prompt reply. But I disagree with things being suspicious.

As for being unsympathetic, I disagree (I am assuming you are talking about me). I am amazed that so many people pre-ordered the set, and I won't rest until everyone who ordered has a set safely in their hands.

Again, I don't fret over people having doubts. Everyone, including BMG, had doubts about this. But always remember that this is a set that is being created by *legal* means. We are not burning DVDs in a basement somewhere. Everything has to be cleared. It does get frustrating at times, but that is the way the entertainment business is. The people who don't do things by the book get sued out of existence.

Whereas I, Jason, assume that he's talking about me. ^_^

I am sympathtic to the consumers. I am one of them, after all. I am looking forward to my set as much as, if not more than (if you'll pardon my pride in my fandom), any of us. The difference is that I went to LA, interviewed Marshall and Ed and Winnie, and hung out with Ross all day talking about how cool the set is shaping up to be. And obviously not everyone has the benefit of being so involved.

The circumstances surrounding this set are not "more than a little suspicious", imho. The various temporary SNAFUs that have popped up over the course of this project thus far may have been cause for suspicion, but I think that Jason has been quick to address each one and, now that he has the ability, has been quick to resolve each matter.

Ross is planning on releasing many other shows to DVD. MSCL is just the trial run to get to know the process, the proof-of-concept to prove to the DVD community that he can and will do everything in his power to do it right. If he screws this one up, it's all been for naught. As big as AU is, Ross isn't going to do something to blow its reputation simply to rip off 3k people for $100/each.

Jason: I believe that most likely you and the folks at AU are completely honest about all of this, and that you guys will deliver on an outstanding product. I'm just saying that from the consumer's perspective, we really have no guarantee...you could turn out to be a con man. I personally don't believe you are a con man, but I wouldn't blame someone else for thinking this whole thing might be some sort of scam, and being a little wary. There's nothing personally you've done or said that is suspicious --- I'm merely pointing out that anytime somebody turns over their money to a stranger in the hopes of getting something a few months later, it's taking a risk. For me it's a risk worth taking, but I certainly wouldn't blame anyone for finding it an uncomfortable risk.

That would be quite a con to fly someone to Los Angeles to interview Bedford Falls. :-)

In all seriousness, nothing has been "the usual" about getting this set out. If you have doubts about me, I suggest doing what you'd do before a date with someone you never met, and Google me.
