Why Pittsburgh?

Post by lecter5761 » Sep 14th 2005, 3:46 pm

Just wondering if anyone knows why it was set in Pittsburgh, was one of the creators born there, or was it just a random decision?

Good question. I don't know the answer. I can guess. Pittsburgh is a type of every-city. People know and can relate to it. Most people can't relate to LA. Of course, since the show didn't deal with Pittsburgh themes, other than it being cold, one might think that the writers and producers might have brought more local color to the show later on. Now that I think about it, "So-Called Angels" used Pittsburgh's two cities (John Edwards's "two Americas," which has more depth today after Katrina, fairly well. We all know that Pittsburgh has fallen on hard-times economically. There are homeless people there. And urban teens seem to have more problems than rural teens.

Patty: If Rayanne's not seeing you, and we're not seeing you, who is seeing you?
Graham: And how much of you?
Angela: Dad!
Graham: Oh, I'm sorry! I asked a question about your life, didn't I? Woah, what came over me?
