I remember My So-Called Life being on television when I was 15/16 years old.
It was shown every day for 4 weeks during my school holidays, I would watch it every day.
The following year during the holiday it shown again, I watched it again.
During that period I was depressed and MSCL got into a state of happiness.

Then the following year it wasn't there, I looked year but it never appeared.

5 years later of trying to work out what this tune I was occasionally humming was, a song that made me happy brought me out of sadness.
Then whilst looking for blank tape I discover "My So-Called Life" on one with the episode the tune came from.
It was the tune from "Self Esteem", the holding hands scene.

My mystery tume finally solved and my love of MSCL sparked.

Now with access to the internet and satelite tv, would hunt for info related to MSCL.
I had to wait another year till it appear again on UK television, this time is was ready.
Nearly 3 months laters I had gotten every episode on tape.

Now almost 22 and when ever I feel sad and unable to view the tapes.
I logon to http://www.MSCL.com and I'm striaght there in state of happiness.

"My So-Called Life" is part of me, that's what make it special.

I'm 22 too and I completely agree with the original message (apart from all the episodes I cry at) MSCL puts me in a state of happiness and, like, totally takes me back to my teenage years...or whatever!

I was late to the game and didn't see this series until I was 23 and it was in a marathon on MTV. I recently watched the tapes I had made of the marathon again and unfortunately discovered I am missing the pilot and Dancing in the Dark, so I'm hoping for a tape fairy. In the meantime, though, I find that every time I watch this series, it really touches me the comments that Angela makes and the way the music complements every episode so well.

I agree that this series is something truly unique and special. It has lifted my spirits on many days. It is a crime the series could not have lasted longer.

I personnally think that MSCL couldn't have carried on for another series, another episode-yes. Take buffy for example first couple of seasons OK, then it becomes a joke.
Fawlty Towers -16 episodes all classics.
Only Fools & Horses - should have end with them bcecoming millionaires.

As someone said "Leave them wanting more."

Addy, I do think that MSCL could have lasted at least a few seasons. In a perfect world, I envision the show following Angela through her sophomore to senior year. It would be the perfect way to have the series go out on a high note. A lot can change in the span of a couple of years, and it would be a nice touch to close the chapter on Angela's life with high school graduation. But alas, that wasn't meant to be. <img src="/forum/images/frown.gif">

At the time I was deeply upset when the series ended so abruptly but now that I have got older I begin to understand that it was actually the perfect ending - do we really want to know who she ended up with - isn't it better for us each to decide for ourselves?? (Definitely Brian!!!!)....no, now I think it ended when it had to - what more could have happened to the characters in a MSCL sense??
