Inspired by the literary references found in the MSCL Bible, I thought it would be interesting to compile a list of movie and television references as well. Okay, fine it was my OCD, but it was still interesting to come up with a list!

Pilot: It's a Wonderful Life

Dancing in the Dark: Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman, Batman

Guns & Gossip: JFK speech

Father Figures: Late Show with Johnny Carson, Alive

the Zit: Patty Duke Show, Malcolm X speech, Wizard of Oz, George Burns & Gracie Allen Show

Why Jordan Can't Read: Nutty Professor, Bicycle Thief, Wizard of Oz

Halloween: Power Rangers, Batman

Other People's Mothers: Pippi Longstocking

Self Esteem: Rush Limbaugh Show, West Side Story, Twilight Zone, Lord of the Flies, 60 Minutes

Pressure: 9 1/2 Weeks

On the Wagon: Sesame Street, George Burns and Gracie Allen Show, Jennifer Eight, Giant

So-Called Angels: Godfather, Mr. Magoo Christmas Special, A Christmas Carol, Sal Mineo film festival (unspecified movies)

Resolutions: Dick Clark's Rockin' New Year's Eve, A River Runs Through It, Thelma and Louise

Betrayal: Steven Spielberg & Quentin Tarantino movies (unspecified movies but we can assume that Brian is referring to Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction - Spielberg goes without saying)

Weekend: Dating Game, unnamed fishing show :D

In Dreams Begin Responsibility: The Nanny

*Should Batman, the Wizard of Oz, and Pippi Longstocking count as literary references or tv/movie references?*

I have a broad definition of literature, which includes books, music, movies, etc. Anything written can be considered literature. Many schools and colleges share the same broad definition. That's why you will find film classes housed in English departments at some colleges, for example.

Well I didn't want to double dip since I originally added those three to the literary list

Since all three are books made into movies, I wasn't sure which list was more appropriate. It's likely that Rickie and Patty are more familiar with the Wizard of Oz as a movie, and it's almost definite that Danielle and Rayanne are more familiar with the Batman movie than with the 60s tv show or the comic book.

(see pictures here and here to see Catwoman's pointy eyeliner) :D

On the other hand, it's likely that Danielle and Vivian are more familiar with the book Pippi Longstocking than with the tv movie version (1985) or the Swedish movie version (1988).

How about other TV shows and movies with MSCL references like every Cameron Crowe movie, the movie "Loser", that episode of the Simpsons, and that TV show starring the guy who played the young Skywalker. Any others?
