Mistaken Identity

Mistaken Identity
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A man was being tailgated by a stressed-out woman on a busy
boulevard. Suddenly, the light turned yellow, just in front of him. He did the right thing, stopping at the crosswalk, even though he could have beaten the red light by accelerating through the intersection.

The tailgating woman hit the roof, and the horn, screaming in frustration as she missed her chance to get through the intersection with him. As she was still in mid-rant, she heard a tap on her window and looked up into the face of a very serious police officer. The officer ordered her to exit her car with her hands up. He took her to the police station where she was searched, fingerprinted, photographed, and placed in a cell.

After a couple of hours, a policeman approached the cell and opened the door. She was escorted back to the booking desk where the arresting officer was waiting with her personal effects.

He said, "I'm very sorry for this mistake. You see, I pulled up behind your car while you were blowing your horn, flipping the guy off in front of you, and cussing a blue streak at him. I noticed the 'Choose Life' license plate holder, the 'What Would Jesus Do" bumper sticker, the 'Follow Me to Sunday School' bumper sticker and the chrome-plated Christian fish emblem on the trunk. Naturally, I assumed you had stolen the car."
"So this is hell. I'd never have believed it. You remember all we were told about the torture-chambers, the fire and brimstone, the "burning marl." Old wive's tales! There's no need for red-hot pokers. HELL IS - OTHER PEOPLE!"

Hahaha! Yeah, who would want that stuff on their car!

The worst bumper sticker I've seen that is Christian, the one I really hate the most, reads:

"In case of rapture, this car will be unmanned."

How conceited and self-righteous!
Um, in my room, one seam is a little off and I stare at it constantly. It's, like, destroying me.

I always liked the "DARWIN" fish, the ones with the little legs evolving out of the body.

I didn't attend the funeral, but I sent a nice letter saying I approved of it.

Well I'm not sure where the confusion lies? Is it because?
a) Your not sure what the term rapture is in this particular meaning
b) Your DO know the meaning and believe you are among the chosen few.
(I’m not making a judgement on you either way.)

I believe the idea that the person knows the "will of God" with such certainty is the offensive part. But that is my take on it.

Both of these things I find offensive. I think it's fine to be religious and have faith and believe --- go for it, do your thing. But don't shove it in my face, or the faces of those who are not into it. I don't force my beliefs and lifestyle choices on other people.

I think the quote on the bumper sticker means, "if I experience religious breakthrough/epiphany/ecstasy while I am driving, the hands of God will come down out of the sky and take my physical body out of my car and up to heaven." That's what I get from "in case of rapture, car will be unmanned" and I think it is terribly self-righteous, presumptious, and offensive.

I really don't mean to start a religious argument here.
