Don Johnson was stopped at German customs when they found $8 billion (yes, that's a B) in his luggage.

He said he was going to buy a car, and the customs official reportedly told him he could buy the factory for that much.

Wow. That's a lot of money!

How did Don Johnson get $8 billion? I know he made money from Miami Vice, but I don't think he made that much. That is mucho mullah.

NPR said it was only papers showing transactions in the amount of $8 billion. Not the actual cash...basically receipts....

:?: :?: :?:

I just did a few searches, including the news on NPR, and couldn't find anything...

Are you guys participating in some kind of psychology/sociology experiment on the creation of urban legends?

EDIT:

Of course, the minute after I said that, I found it on Yahoo! News.

The reports say that he had $8 billion in cash, bonds and share certificates. Wonder how much of it was actually in cash. Nevertheless, that's a buttload of money equivalent to be carrying in a suitcase!

The New York Post made that claim, but it has yet to be verified by the German officials. Johnson claims the papers were carried by an associate and were intended to back an upcoming movie project.

The real mystery is why I am even commenting on this thread, when I have never seen any of Don Johnson's movies or TV series!

Must... pay attention... to celebrity... with eight... billion... dollars... urrrrgh...

:P

8 billion dollars could make about 1,000 movies. Or 5,000 movies that would star Don Johnson.

"They gave me some bank statements, some résumés, stuff like that to show they could perform as investors. My assistant had them in a briefcase," he said.

From the looks of it, all the reports seem to come from British equivalents of the New York Post. ie: sensationalist rag.

Miami Vice was the bomb when I was in high school. I think I still have a Vice jacket buried in my closet. 8)

Why would anyone be carrying 8 billion dollars around with them?
What would happen if you got robbed? Sorry honey, ya know I was taking the 8 billion dollars for a walk and I got held up, sorry, no vacation home in the south of France this year :D .

OT: Yeah, I remember watching Miami Vice back in high school. That was certainly the show to see. I remember hearing recently that Universal told fans of Miami Vice that they are never going to put Miami Vice out on DVD. Bummer.

This 8 billion dollar figure must be wrong; maybe 8 million, but that is still pretty high. J.Lo the princess of a thousand jobs i.e. singer, actress, restuarant owner, clothing line designer........ engaged to Ben Affleck, doesn't even have that much money. Something sounds fishy about this whole story.

The only papers reporting that he actually had the money were the ones that are sensationalistic. The BBC report it was only paperwork documenting that amount of money. Which makes sense because if there is a company that is going to back a movie by Don Johnson, he's going to want to check their accounts and make sure they have the money (something that Jason should have done.)

All these reports have gotten important details wrong, and its causing ol' Don a heck of a lot of trouble...

I usually carry about $1 billion in quarters just in case I am struck with the need to play Space Invaders.
