A slight misunderstanding there, NJ. The "masculine" and "feminine" numbers refer to the alternating polarities of the astrological signs, similar to the yin/yang qualities of Eastern astrology. Aries is a masculine sign, Taurus is feminine, Gemini is masculine, and so on. This polarity has little or nothing to do with a person's gender; I am male but my birth sign, Cancer, is "feminine". Anyway, the point is that the closely matched numbers are not surprising from a statistical standpoint, as you would expect about half of the signs to fall into either group. Of course, you could argue that one polarity or the other would enjoy MSCL more, but I guess the series has appeal across the entire astrological spectrum.
