Hi Debs,
I too was just thinking about the shipping....and im impressed that there's another UK mscl fan on here!! I'm from Merseyside, and absolutely LOVE mscl. My friends think I should get over it cos it was years ago, but it's just the best!
Shame Channel 4 don't repeat them anymore...I can't believe its been FIVE years since they stopped showing it!
nothing compares 2U

Hmmm, I have some friends who think I should get over MSCL too. Maybe if there was some quality programming on tv, I would!
Buffy, beloved though it is and dear to my heart, cannot erase the picture of Jordan and Angela.

When I get the DVD set, im going to get my mates (all who haven't ever seen it) and make them watch a few episodes....I'm so proud of the show I just want everyone to know how great it is.
Any ideas which episode I should show them? They will pribably only let me show them one, so I need to pick the one which will have the most impact - I was thinking either Life of Brian, the one where Rayanne tries out for the Frozen Embryos, or the pilot - which do you think??
Cheers

Good question.
If you were to play one episode for non-Lifers (*Gasp* Are there such people??), I would play Life of Brian. Isn't that the one with the World Happiness dance? I love that one. Especially the end when Ricky and Delia dance to "What is love?" Hee. Best. Dance. Scene. Ever.

I think I would probably play them 'The Pilot'. Although there are finer episodes, I would play this because watching it for the first time is the reason we're all hooked, right? After the viewing they may just say, "oh lets watch one more", and before you know it they'll be in your house raiding your DVDs every chance they get.
A big hi to everyone from UK and y'all from the US too!!!

ooh, lookey...

What happened to Joanna? She's the third most prolific poster on this forum but she seems to have disappeared lately.
I'm not sure that "On The Wagon" would make a good first episode for MSCL newbies. Yes, it is a crucial plot in the show and very clever but it might be too depressing to hook new fans. My vote would go for "Guns and Gossip" or "Halloween".
Has anyone actually had a good experience with winning new MSCL converts? I've been trying with a couple of friends for some time now but it isn't easy. Any tips or tricks that worked for you would be appreciated.

Ok, maybe your rite about 'On the Wagan' being a bit sad, but it's just so good! I might play them the pilot, but that can be quite depressing as well.
Any other suggestions for an episode to convert my friends?
By the way I totally agree about how difficult it is to convert non-mscl people! I have forced so many friends to watch it, and while they all recognise that it's good, the same thing comes back.......its just too depressing.

MSCL Favorite Episode

I would pick the Christmas episode - with the angel as my favorite episode. I do have that one on tape and force the family to watch it every Christmas
the pilot...definiately

I think i would have to start them off with the pilot, give them a taste of the awesome characterization, the mood of the prgramme etc any other episode wouldnt make sense to them, it has to come in the full context, it wouldnt be undervalued and unappreciated...cant have that now can we? We need to build them up to Crackows letter to Angela..
