Celebration?

Post by Nostradamus » Jun 29th 2002, 7:20 am

Just wondering what you'll do when you finally get your set -- other than the obvious caffeine driven, bleary eyed, 19 hour marathon which NO ONE had better interrupt if they know what's good for them ;) -- Fireworks, champagne, lowering the prime interest rate, installing Jason Rosenfeld as supreme dictator of the universe?

I will immediately start lobbying Jason to get us the complete Twin Peaks, The Wonder Years and the first two series of Millenium on DVD.

I know this is pretty obvious, but I plan on having myself a 15 hour MSCL marathon. I do like N's idea. I second that emotion - we need the Wonder Years! Can I add Moonlighting to the list too?

Now that you mention it, I wouldn't mind seeing China Beach and Daria on the shiny silver plates...

I second the motion for the Complete TWIN PEAKS.

I could also handle Freaks and Geeks which came in just under MSCL, getting cancelled with only 18 episodes.
What is it about good TV, that destines it for an early grave?
I can only recall BLADE RUNNER. "The flame that burns twice as bright, burns half as long."

On a side note: On the recent Twin Peaks season 1 Box, David Lynch refused to contribute because they were releasing the first season WITHOUT THE EPIC 2 HOUR PILOT MASTERPIECE. Because some fool decided to sell the rights to that but not the rest of the show. So the company that owns the show, doesn't own an integral part of it.
This is the kind of dilemma that requires a HERO of JASON ROSENFELD's calibre.

I'd like to see a marathon of "Rocko's Modern Life".

How about a marathon of the Family Guy, also sadly cancelled?

Not entirely true about TP.

Warner Bros owns the pilot episode and wouldn't sell it to Artisan when they aquired the rights to the series from Republic Pictures.

David Lynch doesn't participate in any additional material on DVDs...he feels the work should speak by itself. Jason and I found ourselves driving on "Mulholland Drive" when we were in LA :)

Mulholland Drive

Post by Jason R » Jun 30th 2002, 10:08 pm

Jumpin' Jesus on a pogostick! (yeah, I know I am Jewish and all). Mulholland Drive was like the curviest road I ever drove on in my life. Very curvy and hilly. The GPS was of no use on those roads.

I should add Northern Exposure and Deep Space Nine to the growing dvd wishlist.

I thought DS9 would be released on DVD after Paramount had released all seven seasons of TNG. Do you know anything else?

DS9 will be coming sometime in 2003. Maybe shortly after the seventh and final season of
TNG is released, or possibly mid 2003.

What about "David Lynch's 9 Clues To Figuring Out `Mulholland Drive`" on the Mulholland Drive DVD? Or were they not actually by David Lynch?

>< I could also handle Freaks and Geeks which came in just under MSCL, getting cancelled with only 18 episodes. ><

From what I've heard, a Freaks and Geeks DVD set is near impossible because of some problems obtaining the rights to a song that was crucial to the plot, like the Grateful Dead music in the last episode or the Rush song when the drummer auditions for the local band.

On another DVD note, I don't know if there are many - if any - Sports Night fans here, but this unbelievably brilliant show is finally getting a full DVD set released after months of petitioning and hope being shattered. Thanks, of course, to everyone who made the MSCL DVD happen.
